The 'kin' of ‘napkin’ means "little." ‘Nap’ comes from ‘nape,' which means “tablecloth.” So a napkin is a little tablecloth. 10/10, no notes.

If you do a lot of searching on the internet (as I do), this is a really useful article. Multiple things I didn’t know and will use going forward.

Laura Helmuth@laurahelmuth.bsky.social

This is a great list of techniques for getting real information out of a Google search and avoiding AI slop and paid results. (One thing not included is that if you add "-ai" to a search, you block the AI summary) cardcatalogforlife.substack.com/p/google-has...

Going downhill on a steep, snow and ice covered road, the engine braking in sport mode is quite useful! Says this ex-stick driver.

I’ve had two cars with “sportmatic” transmissions and have never used it- I drove a stick for many years and never felt the urge to pretend to drive one now.

Do you need 5 media queries to make your font look good depending on screen width? One line of CSS is all you need: font-size: clamp(1rem, 2vw + 0.5rem, 2rem);

This is the message.

This is your daily reminder that Trump and Republicans are pouring billions of your tax dollars into ICE raids and crackdowns, while gutting Medicaid and SNAP and driving up health care costs. Families are getting crushed by rent, groceries, and prescriptions.

Tested, true.

Alona Ferber@aloner.bsky.social

I recently discovered something that has markedly improved my experience of daily life: if you Google something and add “-ai” after the search term, it gives you search results without the AI overview

Let's try this again 👋 Hi Bluesky - I'm Massachusetts' Attorney General. You might know me from suing President Trump nearly 50 times, beating Uber and Lyft in court, or being the first woman of color elected to statewide office in MA. I officially left X today - help me find my MA people?

This is the way.

“Cut ICE’s budget to restore federal health care funding” is an extremely popular message www.politico.com/f/?id=000001...

This isn’t some anonymous tip. This is sworn testimony, under penalty of perjury, from someone who said Trump threatened to kill her if she exposed Epstein’s sexual abuse.

We have an entire class of Democratic "leadership" that has been told that it's dangerous and extreme to say this, and that does not understand that what Democrats want is for their leaders to articulate what they believe and why they believe it. That should not be as big an ask as it apparently is.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

More like this, it's a Dirty War against America.

Stop waiting for Trump to “declare” martial law. He’s already doing something far worse: Hybrid civil war. In my most recent post, I break down how the regime is running the Russian hybrid warfare playbook against blue cities and states. open.substack.com/pub/resistan...
