I was really surprised that progressive folks rallied behind Keith Riel for Peterborough mayor and i'm not surprised it didn't work. Time for new voices, new representation on the left. Campaigning as a 16 year member of Peterborough City Council is not a winning strategy.

I am fifty fucking years old. My entire life has been democrats not undoing what republicans did, then losing to republicans that make things worse, repeat. The phrasing is simplistic, to be sure, but every democratic gain they tout is a band aid on a compound fracture.

Two things that are true: 1. The American economy is not the worst economy of all time, which everyone seems to have believed for half a decade, and it's bizarre and mystifying they do. 2. Trump has done an incredible job of single-handedly damaging the economy with terrible policy choices.
