One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”
"By using AI, tasks like essays that used to take hours can be completed in minutes!" Sure, like how if I arrive at the gym and immediately go for a shower, my workout is done in record time. And if I throw my sandwiches straight in the bin, I can finish my lunch in under 10 seconds.

Anyone want to bet how long it will take to regulate them?
Turned on Giants game. An ad for the sports gambling app that sponsors the broadcast, in which one of the ESPN talking heads is practically begging me to place a bet, comes on. This is insidious and must be outlawed…but I am not holding my breath.

Two people I know who worked near the Twin Towers and who were made to return to work after they fell because the govt said the air was safe went on to develop lung cancer & die. I am glad Mayor Mamdani released this. Fuck Giuliani & the mayors who hid this for 25 years! www.cnn.com/2026/09/08/u...

My name is Sarah, I live in Brooklyn, grew up in the Seattle. One of my favorite lyrics is in Langhorne Slim song “By the Time the Sun Goes Down” when he sings I run into some people and They ask me how you are I'll tell them that you're doing well And hope that they step in front of a car
Hi, I'm John Moe, a writer and podcast maker in Saint Paul. I am married with three mostly grown kids and two nice dogs. I like in "Misunderstood" when Tweedy throws in extra syllables on "Take the guitar player for a ride". Would you like to introduce yourself with a small song moment you like?

When text were 10cents each. My younger sister cost my parents $100s of dollars one bill. My dad took her phone and smashed it. She found the SIM card and took my mom’s old phone out of the junk drawer.
Parents today will never know the joy of getting a surprise $700 phone bill full of toll calls, 976 hotline charges, and teen party lines.
Will they join all the people who left NYC after Zohran was elected? Or all the people who left New Jersey after the wealth tax?
WaPo making same claim that’s been disproven again & again. Who do they imagine these people are, willing to pay the price of abandoning home, friends, lives they’ve built. “Sorry, kids, we’re leaving the only home you’ve ever known & all our friends to pay 7% state tax instead of 8%.”
For all the books I had to read growing up with males being selfish, shitty and treating women poorly (catcher on the rye, on the road….); they have options.
I don't have, like, a ranked list of contributing factors to the decline of men's interest in literary fiction, but I'm pretty sure none of the top ones are addressed with a "fellas, try the romantasy" admonishment.
My first love and high school boyfriend emotional abused me. We had several fights where I thought he would hit me. I remember making myself small to try and hide as he yelled at me. But he was a “nice” guy and had isolated me from all my friends.
The wife of Rep. Max Miller accused him of spraying her w/ hot water. He has denied he abused her. Today, he released a transcript of a conversation w/ her--and JFC, it is not exactly exculpatory. "I didn't mean to hurt you" he says, after admitting he sprayed her www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/982qz...
What 90’s cars would be there? White jeeps from clueless?
the nostalgia diner industry should have aged past the 50s. I should be able to go to an era-accurate 90s diner, served a room temp Fruitopia by staff in babydoll dresses, there should be a Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition machine against the wall. They could sell Desert Storm trading cards.

Chuck Schumer just singing Mitski’s Nobody to himself.
“Troy Jackson, who is expected to become the Democratic nominee for Senate in Maine, said he would not support Senator Chuck Schumer of New York to continue as the party’s leader in the chamber. Mr. Jackson also said that he was not sure he would want Mr. Schumer’s help in the general election.”

How much harder will be it for fans to get to, in, out and home of he goes to the game?
FIFA letting Trump present the World Cup Championship Trophy? He doesn’t watch soccer, and already tried to steal the last FIFA trophy he got near. NJ doesn’t need his motorcade circus turning the finals into a massive target. Let Mexico or Canada’s leaders do it. Trump can stay in DC and golf.
Are you even friends if you have not gone to their classified business meeting when visiting a family member? Coffee, drinks, dinner - do you hate them?
Marco Rubio on why Trump's son in law, Michael Boulos, who has no government role, was in his official meetings in Kuwait: "He was just here because his brother lives here and I'm a good friend of Michael's, so we had a chance to catch up"
I am so tired of Democrats being told to be moderate. Feels like men telling women we should be seen and not heard. Fuck that
We are witnessing MAGA equivalent of destruction of Democratic Party through election of progressive Socialists. If you think this ends well for country, I believe you're sadly mistaken. Extremism on one side simply fuels opposite growth on other side. We need moderates.
Good thing there is 24/7 live feed
Trump: "The 350 foot gash, made by a very sharp knife or razors, is actually numerous slashes over a very long 350 foot length. It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition."
How does algae pay these protestors? And how much? Are they posting on LinkedIn?
Trump: “Here is another example of a crazy pro-algae (likely paid) protestor. The sign says, ‘First they came for the algae…’ which is in reference to a famous post-WW2 statement about Germans not speaking out against Nazis ‘…Then they came for the Jews, & I did not speak out—bc I was not a Jew “
