If you can't make this, go read more Dan Hornsby. Not enough people talk about Via Negativa, if you ask me.

K-State alum @dannyhornsby.bsky.social will read his fiction at 7 p.m. tonight (October 26) in the Wildcat Chamber in the Union and via Zoom at tinyurl.com/hornsbykstate

Heartened by the good crowds at the early voting site on a beautiful Chicago Saturday. Disheartened, as always, that the campaign ads have not disappeared from my TV because I, personally, have now voted.

Baseball poetry doesn't have to stop when the Series is over, but it won't feel the same. Read some now...

I have a *new* Pete Crow-Armstrong poem published in the World Series issue of The Twin Bill with AMAZING original artwork by a Canadian illustrator! Check it out!

I've been gone for 30 years, but no one in Maryland likes Virginia, even a little. It was basically our South Suburbs.

Our 13-yr-old will be in his school production of Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars in a couple weeks and needs to work on his British accent, so we're letting our copy of Attack the Block be his dialect coach.

Cool writers reading in a cool setting - go check it out, Chicago-area people!

you literally never need to tell me why you're canceling a meeting or asking for a meeting to be canceled. Yes, we can do that, and I am sorry and/or happy for you about whatever happened

"Just keep him in there," I say, like DeNiro about Billy Batts in Goodfellas, to my daughter about the daddy-long-legs in her bathroom she needs me to take care of.

Keeping this going -- every time I drive by the Ba'hai Temple, I have to remind everyone to read "Orchids" by Stuart Dybek

My dialect map looks exactly how you'd expect for someone who was born and raised near DC, has spent the next half of his life in Chicago, and staunchly insists on calling all soft drinks "coke".

I read Waterline by Aram Mrjoian back in June, and even if the rest of my summer hadn't involved the Great Lakes and Grief in some way, it still would have hit all the right buttons. Check it out, it's really good.

"Think back on the good times together," I tell my son, as he asks what he's supposed to do with his prized Skubal Tigers jersey.

I recommend the hell out of this book. A wonderful example of going on a ride with the author as they realize their original story has turned into Something Else deeper and more compelling. Also, it gives the All-American Breakfast the in-print tribute it so richly deserves.

Just missed the 8th anniversary of my first book. It's about 80 years of history in Patsy Cline's hometown and the Blue Ridge Mountain country bar that was founded & run by her close friend. Reporting this over a 4-yr span really made me a writer, and I adore the many photos by my friend Matt.

This is a shame. I'm assuming Dali designed one for each of the preceding Bond films, but when they don't use it on the voodoo-themed one, that's just a bummer.

It's not too early to get the 14th Annual Rock and Roll Reading, an AWP off-site, on your calendar: March 17 — St. Patrick's Day! — in Wrigleyville @gmantavern.com. Readings to start at 6. The room holds about 100—we will fill it! Be there or be a parallelogram with four equal sides. #AWP27 #AWP

Honestly, everyone in America should experience America like World Cup fans have. Go to places you haven't been, eat the local food, have a blast. This country is huge and most people barely ever see any of it.
