When I'm drowning in darkness or despair, I remind myself of the following: 1) I didn't predict us getting to this, so what makes me think I can predict how this all ends 2) Chicago has stepped up to a degree and with a speed that I would have believed literally impossible

I'm a fan of Alex and I'm a fan of his work. And if you give him a listen, I'll bet you will be, too.

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

If these two (people whom we've never heard of) can't make it what hope is there for the rest of us??!

Will anyone—anyone at all—ask Trump about the rape allegations published in an official report by the House Judiciary Democrats? Or will he continue to escape accountability for his violence?

Whether it's Democrats using a police gym to play basketball or Republicans imprisoning people without due process and sending them to black sites, both sides abuse police resources to achieve their goals.

Politico wrote up Zohran playing basketball with the uncovering-a-big-scandal tone the same day the NYTimes wrote up "credible allegation that The President of the United States raped a woman" as a political strategy story. Broken media in a nutshell

Setting aside that B-block uses the gym for 2.5 hours earlier in the day and the facility shuts down at 10:35pm, their entire actionable complaint appears to be "they had to move chairs for the next day to accommodate the gyms usage"

Good.

"amplify your people" is 100% the best strategy

Rafa Sales Ross@rafiews.com

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

There's so much to unpack but I want to focus on one detail I don't see anyone else pointing out: She spends time conscientiously citing how they didn't use AI "to make people say things they didn't say" while glossing over how they used AI to make people DO things they DIDN'T DO. That's not better.
