My take from the Smith hearings: To be a GOP senator today, you have to be a lying piece-of-shit, who puts loyalty to party & our lying piece-of-shit president, above their oaths to the Constitution & their obligations to tell the truth & do what rights to the American people! Repost if U agree

Yeah and all the social rancor they’ve caused? The hatred of anyone non-white? Non-cis? Non-christian? That can all just be overcome by getting a bit more money in your pocket? Yeah sure. Cause this was FDRs world where economic populism ruled the day and minorities got raped and killed.

Trump is a double-dealing conman — trying to cheat at every turn. And he has surrounded himself with apprentices who are more of the same.

Children raped and killed. American citizens shot in the street. Immigrants illegally shackled, tortured, killed. Journalists arrested. While a $300 million ballroom is constructed and a trash documentary released.

None of this had to happen. Not the 25 million excess deaths, not the #longCOVID, not the economic costs, not the political instability. COVID is the Dunning-Kruger pandemic. Caused by ignorance, ego, and a culture of corruption in medicine's international management class. Sources in this 🧵:

Mark Ungrin@mark-ungrin.bsky.social

The negligent, outdated beliefs of medicine's management class (everywhere; from the UK inquiry here) contrasted with well-understood science from 👉1934👈. If you got sick after being told that COVID falls to the ground within 3 feet and N95/FFP2/FFP3 respirators aren't needed, 👉it was their fault.👈

"If great powers abandon even the pretense of rules & values for the unhindered pursuit of their power & interest, the gains from transactionalism will become harder to replicate" -- Carney's speech at Davos is an extended criticism of the damage Trump is doing (though he's not mentioning his name)

If the US leaves NATO, who would be the US's allies? Nobody. They would have nobody to bully in the press and nobody to backstab if there was a military problem. Americans are the most untrustworthy nation, second to none, right now. Nobody wants to be friends or trading partners with America.

Carney: "We stand firmly with Greenland and Denmark and fully support their unique right to determine Greenland's future. Our commitment to NATO's Article 5 is unwavering ... Canada strongly opposes tariffs over Greenland"

Trump's tariffs aren't hitting foreign markets like he claimed they would. The facts are clear: American importers, businesses, and U.S. consumers are shouldering nearly all the cost. Chaos is not a trade strategy. It harms working families and businesses alike.

Would be amazing if European leaders would also start throwing out truth bombs like this. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

Hawley - "Trump assured me he won't..." The Susan Collins fallacy. Shocker. (how do Republican voters not see they have the weakest, feckless reps, who will literally send your kids into war to protect a billionaire pedophile cult)

As a Canadian, I don’t find it funny at all. It‘s horrifying and repulsive. I keep hoping someone will take serious action or he’ll die.

Global warming caused by humans is an observed fact. Yes, science still needs to learn more, but it's no more in overall doubt than the theory of gravity. And it's bad. Willful ignorance, enforced by those who choose to deny science, is an existential threat to our civilization.

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.
