You Can See Everything is a rich text! self-deception so complete, fully believing our own lies, that we invite outsiders to witness it like a magic trick and they buy it so we believe it even more

If you would try to win by abandoning trans people (or any targeted group) you can save this “we need to win” talk; there is no “we.” I am about solidarity, and you have chosen anti-solidarity. You are not any “we” I recognize. You are the enemy I’m trying to defeat. Beating you is how my “we” wins.

corporations salivating at the chance to replace their human employees with AI agents is a real signal that an entity doesn't need sentience to do us harm

if you're looking at bizarre political or financial or business decisions by people in high positions, I've found that "they are in the Epstein files and are panicky" is an illuminating explanation most of the time

@maklelan.bsky.social The early parts of the Bible take place in a very patrilinear culture, where the rule was for the first-born son to inherit, right? but i noticed that a lot of Genesis consists of stories where that is excepted and a different son inherits instead (Abel over Cain, Isaac over...

... Ishmael, Jacob over Esau, Ephraim over Manasseh, etc.) Should these stories be understood as narrative propaganda to prop up an otherwise illegitimate inheritance & regime? Like, the *reason* they needed to exist at all was to convince the people to obey the new ruler?

I know this is a common belief, but it’s not true. If people went anti-vaxx/MAHA because they were excluded from the medical establishment, we would see sky-high rates among poor people, minorities and the uninsured. We don’t.

I bet for very hot people, it's just expected that everyone will gag and stare. like they don't even clock it as weird because it's their normal

when the 1% say "but how will we pay for it?" they secretly mean "but I've done some heinous crimes (like, truly depraved acts of cruelty and violence against innocent people) and I *need* to maintain control of the police state so the people can never put me in prison"

we carefully guard the line between "person" and "object" because we act horribly when we treat people as objects but what if we started treating all objects as people and got rid of the line altogether? might be good practice

Feature idea for #bluesky: envelope mode write a post, put it in a sealed envelope, and set a date for it to open. People can see *something* was posted, but can't read the contents until it's opened great for making predictions without tilting the scales

advanced intellect is actually pretty susceptible to manipulation give em some data with a little ambiguity and prime em with the kind of answer you're looking for and they'll proudly connect the dots for you like raw meat to a wolf

leaving mean comments online is negging, a form of bullying when you don't know what the hierarchy looks like, you test the waters by putting someone down and watching the reaction if it lands, you must be higher up than them. "status! keep doing it!" if you get humbled, turns out you're lower

either way, you get some data. you triangulate your pecking order I'm not advocating for it. I personally think it's gross and mean (and probably unreliable) and it reinforces patriarchal systems I'm just explaining why they do it. it's functional

it’s pretty obvious that a lot of people remember that COVID lockdowns were unpleasant and from there just extrapolate that they were therefore bad policy

I've believed this for years corporations provide goods and services, sure, but their main deliverable is a little fiefdom for the executives. they just need to feel powerful! business leadership is their IV drip

Saw a zillow listing touting the smart fridge and can't tell you how much I need the fridge to be the dumbest appliance in the house. I just need it to be cold. Nothing else. Should be JD Vance levels of dumb, just there without a thought, being cold & impersonal, staring at the couch all day.

The Democratic establishment crash-out is a wonderous thing to see. A bunch of people, their organization named after democracy, unable to handle the results of just a few popular elections, appealing to the unspoken rules of a club they thought belonged exclusively to them. Let's do it everywhere.
