microsoft put copilot in my word program & the help info says I can turn it off under preferences but there's no button there. I've logged in & out of MS365, I have closed & opened Word, turned my computer on & off. It's still trying to edit my doc for me & there's still no way to turn it off. ACK!

For example, take a look at this absolute crap. The implication here, by people who are trying to trick you, is that "billionaire" and "top 2%" are the same, or even similar group of people. The top 2% is 791,859 people. There are 200 billionaires, who pay no virtually NO INCOME TAX AT ALL.

Okay. Technically, I don't think Pete can vote, because he has an accent and just moved here, but give him a voice. Vote according, very strictly, to our guide.

If a billionaire really wanted to use their money to serve American literary culture they'd establish a non-profit WHOLESALER specifically serving small & indie presses

This is really good in a bunch of ways. I was especially caught by the materialist explanation of contemporary short story aesthetics (regardless of region, genre, etc.) — stories are published and awarded for the qualities that make them attractive to readers with much too much to read.

"Because I was shortlisted for the Commonwealth prize in 2020, the thought that my story might have been shortlisted because it was “formulaically postcolonial” haunted me." www.oaklandreviewofbooks.org/write-me-a-c...

My daughter got up & is ready for school early, so she's using her extra time to busk for money on the sidewalk outside our house w/ her recorder. She knows zero songs on the recorder so she's improvising. It's very experimental & I don't think she knows how little experimental musicians get paid.

What a lovely evening talking about trees and hedges, alphabets and translation, and the beautiful work of artistic collaboration that brought The Language of Trees into being! Have fun in Point Reyes Katie!

Put another way, a lot of people are now WFH that didn't used to be able to, and that's a good thing (for them). But the effects of that on mass transit in the Bay has been huge transit deficits. And if RTM fails, it will be the workers who CAN'T WFH who will suffer most. So don't be an asshole!

Oakland Review of Books@oaklandreviewofbooks.org

WFH is why BART is running a deficit. But: "If you are WFH (or even part-time WFH) and you vote no on this measure, you are engaged in an intra-class war against the workers who make your life comfortable": www.oaklandreviewofbooks.org/voting-guide...

Our car wouldn't start this morning so I'm using our carpool partners' car. 15 minutes delay leads to hours of delay because of this car fire. If we'd left on time we would have missed this whole disaster. Fuck cars man. Give me a train!!
