Snap. Oh Carney.

PM Carney: "I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Leader of the Opposition on his 20th anniversary of the HOC. We will build Canada strong ... they will have an opportunity to join us, and he will have an opportunity to do something for the first time in two decades."

Canada gets good leaders.

Former Canada Prime Minister Jean Chrétien: "I have message for American friends...never mistake our generosity for weakness. Never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness...We bow to no one."

🇨🇦 Ottawa city council is scheduled to vote on proposal to rename a street named after U.S. President Donald Trump more than 20 years ago. I think we should call it Bigly.

I never would have predicted that boycotting US products would be good for our health, but here we are.🇨🇦

I never would have predicted that cutting 20% of the staff at the federal agency that makes sure our food is safe would result in a bunch of our food being declared unsafe.

POTUS is delusional. "The United States is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America in that we don’t expect to doing much business with Ontario any longer," Trump posted Tuesday morning on Truth Social. "Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Read the room, senator Schiff. It's a big no.🇨🇦

Canada's boycott of California wine is causing devastating harm to winegrowers. I'm urging the Canadian government to recognize that California doesn’t agree with these tariff wars, to lift these restrictions, and increase consumer options to strengthen both our economies.

Glad she's happy to be back in Latvia, but it's time for our foreign minister to sanction Israel for crimes against Canadians on the flotilla. And then step up on aid and support for Cuba.

Anita Anand@anitaoakvilleeast.bsky.social

It was great to be back in Latvia with our Canadian Armed Forces troops deployed under Operation REASSURANCE.

Great White is fine and the jockey rolled away perfectly. You learn how to do that. 17.2! It'd be like riding an armchair.

As we say in Canada. Yeah, no.

Canada has already paid an "entry fee" in these negotiations — dropping counter-tariffs and scrapping the Digital Services Tax, a modest tax on the world's most profitable tech giants, at the behest of Donald Trump. Those concessions got us nowhere. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

The fake inflation because of the fuel.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

How does it make you feel when Trump calls inflation “fake”? People are out here STRUGGLING to keep up with rent, groceries, gas… and he’s in Nevada tonight pretending it’s all made up.

Next, Carney will send a strongly-worded letter.

Rachel Gilmore@rachelgilmore.bsky.social

Oh my god. The Prime Minister's social media account puts out a post reflecting on the horrors of one genocide, hours after refused to explicitly condemn the threat of another. (Not to mention the failure to close loopholes that see Canadian companies arm yet another genocide -- in Gaza)

Canada needs more Don Davies, MP. If we must buy fighter jets, make them Gripens, not F35s, because we cannot trust the US Gov't to not fuck us over at whim. Tell Carney to back away slowly.

Don Davies@donvdavies.bsky.social

“European govts. worry the Pentagon could remotely disable F-35 fighters or restrict how US weapons can be used. When your supplier threatens to annex your allies, that’s not paranoia - it’s basic procurement logic.” That’s why NDP says we should buy Gripens, not F-35s. Logic.

A Minter of gold coins, you say?

Gareth Penn@garethspenn.bsky.social

Trump may be getting ahead of himself. Croesus, the last king of Lydia and a minter of gold coins, asked the Oracle what would happen if he ordered his army to attack Persia (now known as Iran). She said a mighty empire would be lost. He went ahead, and that is why he was the last king of Lydia.

Can't speak for Michigan but Windsor ON sure has had enough of this shit. And Canada wants a word. 1993: last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup.

Had enough of this shit yet, Michigan?

There's a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in.

NEW: The Atlantic reports Greg Bovino has been REMOVED from his role as Border Patrol “Commander at Large” and will return to his former job in El Centro, California, where he is expected to retire soon. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and “adviser” Corey Lewandowski are at risk of losing their jobs.

I note that in 1930s Germany people didn't all have cameras in their pockets.

ICE attacked an observer after they tailed a group of clergy on a spiritual pilgrimage. Our digital producer @sam.vp just so happened to be with the clergy on their journey. He spoke with the observer who was attacked and others who witnessed the assault.

Many years ago Canadian prime minister Jean Chretien, when asked what advice he had for aspiring politicians said, 'if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.'

Mike Lawler: "The image of a 5-year-old being in any way detained is very bad"

Love me a typo: NYT on Carney being uninvited to the board of grift, I mean peace: "Mr. Trump, speaking a day later, briefly referenced Ms. Carney’s speech."

Meanwhile, in Australia.
