Winning a Lambda special prize is probably as good a time as any for this, so: Hi! I’m Natalie Marlin. I’m a queer trans freelance arts/media critic, always looking for cool writing opportunities. DM me to commission: Features Interviews Reviews Profiles Essays Scene reports Album bios …and more!

“As I sit back here… and I bang away on my drums… I love it!” Beaming about having my favorite drummer in the world tattooed on me forever. I love Ritsu so much, and I’m so happy to have a reminder of how much she means to me, for all the joy K-ON! brought me and how she got me back into drumming 💕

Shoutout to this lesbian-coded bracelet I got on my lesbian date at the renaissance festival with my lesbian girlfriend, I wear it everyday to remind myself how much of a massive lesbian I am

My copy of the new A24 zine I was interviewed for arrived! The collectors’ conversation I was included in turned out so nice, and I’m so glad this anecdote of mine ended up being the one big pull quote chosen from all the words of mine that could’ve been chosen

Endless, tremendous thanks to everyone who came out to the screening of The Matrix last night on a Lilly Wachowski’s personal 35mm print that she very graciously let us project Meant the world to program and introduce this film vital to my transness to a crowd of passionate queer folks 💚

One of the absolute best nights of my life, I was touched that so many trans people showed up and expressed how much this screening meant to them, and that so many good friends and loved ones lined up AROUND THE BLOCK for doors to open for a movie made by two trans women… my heart is so full

Tonight’s the night!!! Twin Cities film people: do NOT miss your chance to see Lana and @lillywachowski.bsky.social’s masterwork on one of the rarest prints of the film around. This is possibly the coolest way I can imagine ever seeing the film, I am so excited to screen this tonight.

Natalie@nataliesnotinit.bsky.social

Trans film at this scale is still so rarely funded, so I hope this screening demonstrates the demand for trans films, now more than ever I’m thrilled to use my role as a trans programmer to present this favorite from Lana and @lillywachowski.bsky.social on a gorgeous print, please don’t miss it 💚

Sharing here: the cooperatively-owned Seward Cafe, one of the most vital spaces for supporting DIY artists and feeding unhoused neighbors in Minneapolis, needs donations to stay afloat amid financial uncertainty. Please pitch in and share, and help keep spaces like this alive in the Twin Cities

Some exciting news: I was interviewed about physical media as an avid, longtime collector for the latest A24 zine! It was such a joy getting to chat about where my love of collecting movies comes from, and the thrill of having physical copies of my favorite films, oddities, obscurities, and more

Any time I get to work Annie Dillard into a conversation about other art forms is a good one. Thanks so much as ever to the Trylove crew for having me!
