This has broken my brain a bit. Potentially centuries, not decades, for any return to 1.5° of warming. What is their understanding of the baseline even going to be in 2500? Go back as far in time from now and Ivan the Terrible was conquering the Khanate of Kazan.
Overshoot into dangerous climate change will not just produce damage, but accumulating damage. That has profound consequences for how we assess climate risk & tipping points. Bad behavior is contagious and spreads through observation, while good behavior doesn't. "Watching someone commit a major rule violation caused a substantial increase in rule-breaking, especially when that rule-breaker belonged to the participant's own political party."

Did you know - you can use @mu.social with your existing Bluesky account, no need to move to Eurosky. All your posts, feeds and accounts will be there. But you’ll be able to edit your posts and have a companion cat, or dog (or fox).
Oh yay I got a shout out for suggesting Cosmo Sheldrake/Nature's Soil on 6 Music for @cerysmatthews.bsky.social's conversation with Hodmedod's Nick Saltmarsh about pulses and wholegrains. They've got a book out: hodmedods.co.uk/pages/whole-... #FoodHeroes #Leguminati
Making chutney a la @jennytpgrows.bsky.social. This photo is an accurate representation of what I can currently see through my glasses.
It was #WorldFoodDay yesterday - I had thoughts about #FoodSecurity and resilience and how we might use preparing for the worst as a good excuse to sneak in some good #FoodSystems change while we're at it.

Don’t eat farmed salmon folks. For this & a whole host of other reasons. See work done by @foodrise.bsky.social & @foodrise-eu.bsky.social 🐟🐟
Farmed salmon now being fed chicken because fish meal prices have gone up. Fish meal demand was already devastating for fish stocks and communities in the places it was caught. This is the same farmed salmon that is often infested with lice in overcrowded pens, spreading disease to wild populations.

I’m sorry, what?! “Salmon are carnivores and eat other fish in the wild, so feeding them chicken is entirely natural,” said an executive at a major salmon-feed producer.” Feeding them humans would be just as “natural” BTW. www.ft.com/content/8f1e...

TL:DR; because of *waves arms around* Actual summary though * No really, why would you * Not having children is so on trend right now * They are annoying (sorry, "noisy capriciousness") The author's solution contains the actual words "Making children seem desirable"
