if you are bigoted against trans folks you will not stop there and I know it you are either already racist, sexist, or homophobic or you are on your way there and I will not join you for your journey

The thing is, they moved past products some time ago and have entered “move the stock price up” as their only corporate goal. Everything else—even the crap they end up selling in the end, has little or no importance to them.

The beauty of sports is you can just decide at any point “I give a shit about this now. Against all reason.” Ten minutes later you hate one of the teams more than life and it’s all downhill from there.

If for whatever reason you used to be a real piece of shit, and now you look back on that period of your life with regrets, that is good and laudable, and also, there might be some jobs that you shouldn't have. I do not find this to be especially complicated.

once again, just spitballing, what if we just provided for everyone's basic material needs

"One study found that increasing the number of people who receive SNAP benefits by 5 percent could have prevented nearly 32,000 suicides over 15 years. And a $1 increase in minimum wage has been linked to roughly 8,000 fewer suicide deaths over a decade."

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

Breaking: Tennessee Republicans pass new 9-0 gerrymander after SCOTUS destruction of Voting Rights Act eliminating state’s only majority-Black district & last Democratic seat. Splits Memphis, which is 63% Black, into 3 districts to disenfranchise Black voters. Quite literally a return to Jim Crow

I don't know that I've ever seen a pope so radically reverse Catholic history, accepted theology for literally centuries, and call his predecessors corrupt and without divine mandate before. "God does not bless any conflict" is an UNBELIEVABLE rupture of theological continuity. Good for him.

just a thought: no movement should ever depend so completely on the reputation of its chosen figurehead that one of its founders is forced to make a calculation like this on behalf of its survival

Local zoning is the way! A lot of these are being stopped or stalled by neighborhood organizing. These warehouses often need to be purchased, permitted, approved for occupancy and specs. Each one of those steps can be interrupted. Ppl are pressuring corps not to sell, counties to deny permits, etc

Feels like the US has spent the last 5+ years on the verge of some kind of secular moral revival that keeps getting channeled into weirdo lifestyle puritanism

No, it's not just Trump; lots of this happened under Biden. It's the office. Which must be abolished. It cannot be reformed, fixed, bodycamm'd, miracled into submission with more money poured into it.

All the anti-war and anti-occupation protestors were right. All the far leftists were right. All the “woke scolds” and your friend who’s “too woke” were right. They were somehow even more right than they may have realized at the time. But really, it was always obvious they were right.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

I know we're all seeing 87 unhinged things per day, but "guys if our multi billion dollar product doesn't start being useful for something, literally anything, the people might not appreciate us wrecking the planet over it anymore" is a truly bananapants thing to say out loud
