IMHO, having myself played soccer with an intensity that cowed the other 7yr olds: FUCK these sore loser parents! Those 5 yr olds could've snagged the ball, but they hesitated. Their coach should work on that. He's hogging the ball from teammates? Coach on assisting, or rotate him to goalie some.

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

D&D team and Magic Studio X are unionizing! You can show support via the petition below.

I fucking hate how useless public services are. Local schizophrenic homeless lady showed up extremely upset, requested I call nonemergency cops for her. My wife called the mental health crisis team because of her screaming (again, upset). Got her settled with some water to wait on my porch. 1/

Crisis team was "on the way" 1.5 hours ago. No eta on the cops. I don't begrudge this lady needing help, i'm glad she's safe & calmer. It's just now i'm stuck managing this when I had shit to do today. I have to finish getting ready for our neice to move in from her shit situation. 2/

I'm grateful the situation isn't worse, because I know the crisis team is a shoestring stretched thin & cops don't give a shit unless they can get a violence boner in the process.

My wife makes this cocktail that's vodka, cranberry juice, lemon juice, and pomegranate syrup (i hove no clue what the proportions are) & it's deliciously refreshing. She also only makes it in full size mason jars, so it will fuck you up quickly.

Today my mom retired. Commercial flowers are atrociously expensive, so yesterday we hit up Trader Joe's, spent $40 picking out flowers to fill this huge vase i got for free from a funeral years ago. Wife did the amazing 3ft tall arraignment, & we surprised Mom after work!

Fuck i'm exhausted. Last night a couple of my ribs decided to wander from their usual places for no apparent reason. Spent most of today with intense pain, only able to breathe shallow (deep was stabbing pain & coughing). Chiro this afternoon helped, but all my torso meat is still very angry.

My cat Baldur (who now rules my mom's house a few blocks away due to cat war that couldn't be resolved at my house) has been not eating enough for months and slowly getting too skinny. It's not life threatening yet, but getting close. Mind you, he does this periodically, just never this long. 1/

Thankfully, at the vet today they determined he is in shockingly good health for his age with no apparent reason for not eating enough. Vet thinks he might have cat-IBS, that disrupts his appetite, and then he just... gets out of the habit of eating. I love him, but this is so dumb. 2/

I don't think there's a better way to summarize this situation, she's just right. And while I don't think it's required, her restraint & poise discussing these events is mind blowing.

*wife & I watching a show with a hand-bell choir scene* Her: ooh I recognize that song too, not sure what from... Me: it's called Tubular Bells. It's from, uh, y'know... the one with the girl & the green puke. Her: yeah, but what's it called? Me: Possession? No that's not it. 1/?

Her: wait,wait- there's an old priest Me: *chuckling* and a young priest Her: yes! Fuck, what IS it? Me:*picks up phone to google* Her: NO! YOU PUT THAT DOWN. THIS IS OUR JOB TO REMEMBER THIS. Me: *laughing* ok,ok! Her: the head turning, that was Linda Blair Me: nice, i didn't have her name! 2/

It's darkly fun for me to look at these AI images to pick out all the fucked up shit in them. Sort of like those "Find the differences!" things from kid's menus, except I deeply despise that these AI images exist in the first place.

My D&D group all just rolled new characters. I've gotten so excited about mine (homebrew Sprite species, with eventual homebrew Oath of Protection paladin) that I dug out my old sketchbook to do a couple character drawings. Off to a good start, I think, considering I'm a rusty amateur.

Our cat Goblin is starting to feel his age in a way that only creates more foolishness. There's a 7ft tall bookshelf in my wife's office that he can still jump on top of, but he's not confident enough to get back down. So randomly he just starts screaming from the bookshelf & we have to rescue him.

This is of limited value. I sorta did this in 2011, specifically because the GOP & repubs i knew seemed extra bonkers. For context i decided to follow all the prominent talk radio, FOX, etc. Didn't take long to see the propaganda & complete disconnect from reality then. No need to bathe in it now.

Fondly remembering how when I was 3 I excitedly woke my parents up for Christmas @ 2 am, so then there had to be RULES for Christmas morning. 1: no touching gifts until parents arrive. 2: you may look at stockings, but not get them down or eat any candy until parents arrive. 1/?

3: all these conditions must be met before waking parents for Christmas: - brush teeth - brush hair - it's at least 6 am - (added a few years later) start coffee brewing for mom I think the Christmas rules are why I was the only kid in kindergarten that could read a clock & run a coffee maker. 2/2

I may be weirdly petty, but I volunteered to make the mascot image for a corporate team competition event purely because I didn't want someone else using AI to do it. BLITZEN'S VIXENS will do just fine with some Clipart & ms paint, thank you.

Had to replace my car battery for the forst time in a decade, damn those have gotten expensive! Was able to zip out to Costco after work, swap the battery in the parking lot, & immediately turn in the old one. Also, good job 4-years-ago-me for buying a cheap metric socket set i almost never need!

Just finished the Predator marathon my wife wanted to do. The vast majority were solid action movies with good to great writing & cinematography! Predator 2 is... aggressively 90's. AVP Requiem is a huge turd. Unfocused, shot so dark & edited so badly you can't SEE what's happening half the time.

Fucking hell. 10 inches of snow, and half of it is the wet, dense stuff. It's taken me an hour to do about a quarter of the total shoveling I have to do. Admittedly, I've hit the most difficult 100 sq ft (there's a part of my driveway where there's nowhere to PUT the stuff), so it gets easier.

Solidarity with your fellow workers! Don't buy anything from Starbucks.

Starbucks Workers United@sbworkersunited.org

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history. Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

We were gifted a used litter robot 3 about 1.5 years ago. Despite a recurring bonnet error problem & some mystery litter leakage, it was still a huge improvement from multiple standard boxes. Since I got a modest windfall, we just upgraded to a 4. I'm immediately impressed with how quiet it is.

Wife didn't latch the front door so our cat Goblin escaped. We ran around the block hoping he hadn't gone far because it'd been less than an hour- no dice. So i settled on the porch to keep an eye out during my lunch. Lo & behold, 10 mins later I hear the dog 3 doors down going nuts. 1/

I see Goblin terrorizing the dog through the fence. By the time I get there, the dog has fled & Goblin is a hunkered ball of fluffed up void. Thankfully no injuries from picking this fight. This bold little asshole will be the death of me.

"Kaegan, you can't do this right now, there are demons." This fantastic sentance brought to you my wife trying play Diablo 4, but Kaegan keeps rubbing her face on the controller and firing off random abilities.

Ancient Congressman: so it said, "notices, bulges, oh double-u oh-" Patel: sir, it was actually "notices bulge, oh-woh" AC: what's an oh-woh? P: it's a face, sir AC: a face? P: the Os are wide eyes AC: why is the mouth a W? P: I believe it's a dog, sir, or maybe a cat AC: and the bulge?

There's a 127 yr old Dutch bakery almost an hour away from me. Since I was little, my family would go once a year to acquire an excessive amount of glorious almond pastries to enjoy over a few days. Once us kids moved out, it was really hard to coordinate this trip- a new tradition was needed. 1/

Thus the Family Jaarsma Alert Compact. If anyone is making the trip to the Jaarsma Bakery, they are bound to notify all family members & take orders (to be reimbursed). This, by now, is sacred law. My wife & I are going this weekend, so I was notifying folks & made an executive decision. 2/

I added my sister's VERY long-time best friend & wife of one of my longest friends to the Compact. (My buddy's missing out since he's out of the country ATM) They've been family, but it feels more official somehow. Also, i've created more possible vectors for pastries.
