It sucks. Plain and simple. But now I think, what can I do? I can fight in my city for the changes I want to see. I can help those who have much more to be fearful of than I. Election Day isn't the be all, end all for change. It can't be. Each of us has to work to get there. Now more than ever.

The Commander Staple discord has the word "slop" banned. We felt if the server could go a week without using the word, we could probably lift it. That was in January. Still banned.

Josué@nerdery.bsky.social

Just saw Jeffrey White's "pig/slop" post show up in a pokemon discussion, so I'll just call it now: That post is nothing but pure condescension. It's corrosive poison for communities. It is truly disappointing to see it spread, even a little. He wasn't misunderstood. He was being toxic.

It would also very much be a shame if people learned that Rust-Oleum Specialty Reflective Finish (SKU 214944) makes it harder for Flock cameras to collect all information seen on license plates. #WCBS

WotC: We want to avoid 5c soup in typal decks, so here's some Rulebreakers. Also WotC: Here's a 5c Nephilim Legend and a 5c PW that can be your commander that can bolt, create a Black Lotus, and Timetwister.

I am so looking forward to the lesson being learned by Rulebreaker being not that it was a bad idea... But one they didn't push the envelope hard enough on.

A lot of the Mystery Booster Commander cards look really cool, but I'm super unimpressed by the Rulebreaker stuff. They all feel very clunky and forced - basically doing them for the sake of it rather than because they actually create cool deckbuilding or game play compared to normal cards.

Sheesh. All I want is to ban infinite scroll. Alex over here reminding me I need to dream a little bigger.

My most authoritarian opinion is that divergent User Interface choices actively harm society at large and should be constrained with the force of government. Imagine everyone actually just sort of knew how every program and device worked to a mid-level, because most things look and feel the same.

This is something you would hear in a Jarhead movie sequel.

Hegseth: I witnessed lethality. I met a junior airman as the sun was going down and a chill was setting on the tarmac, who, when asked what they needed, she simply looked up at me with a sly smile on her face and said, more bombs, sir, and bigger bombs. We will happily oblige her.

I think it's *incredibly* important to highlight that Anthropic wanted 2 things: 1. A human being simply being in the loop when using Claude to kill. 2. No mass surveillance. That was it. And the DoD and Hegseth refused those terms, blacklisted Anthropic, and turned the contract over to OpenAi.

All the while, Anthropic is being punished for taking a moral stance that is effectively the bare minimum. The Free Market Party and the Party against government overreach demonstrating once again it only actually cares about those things when it isn't inconveniencing their own goals.

Sam Altman once again showing his true colors and showing he is ultimately focused on getting more money. Elon being Elon about all of this. And it being *insane* that the "good guy" was Anthropic, an AI company.

OpenAI, Google, and xAI have practically been chomping at the bit to get the contracts should Anthropic not cater. Altman and OpenAI have been playing lip service to a good solution in all of this, but at the end of the day they *need* money and investor confidence. So of course they're gonna cave.

This reminds me of a sort of joke I heard once. Bear with me, it being a Christian joke isn't important: A scientist said “Listen, God, we’ve decided we don’t need you anymore. These days we can clone people, transplant organs, and do all sorts of things that used to be considered miraculous.”

Ultimately, people talk about how "it costs millions in dollars and weeks of filming for Hollywood, it cost me pennies in an afternoon." But this is ignoring that /you didn't come up with the innovative idea in the first place/.

The Wachowskis laid the groundwork that required that time and money, for everything to derivate. The execution of AI work is certainly of a fairly good quality, often enough. But it's creatively sterile. And the sterility is evident in these conversations. The dirt still had to be made.

God replied, “Don’t need me huh? How about we put your theory to the test. Why don’t we have a competition to see who can make a human being.” The scientist agrees, so God declares they should do it as he did in the good old days when he created Adam.

“Fine,” says the scientist as he bends down to scoop up a handful of dirt. “Whoa!” says God, shaking his head in disapproval. “Not so fast. You get your own dirt.”

Let me give you a thought experiment: Imagine not just a ban on qualified immunity for authority, but a reversal; a new legal framework, under which authority bears greater responsibility than civilians in matters involving force—as it should. www.the-reframe.com/absolute-imm...

I think something that is going to be annoying is that there is going to be a population of Trump supporters that, if they realize Trump isn't actually good for the country, will act like he is demonstrative of politicians as a whole. Listen, they are not all great... but he is uniquely awful.

This is very funny to me. Because at first glance... calling this croneyism would seem fitting for someone with ties to Trump. But what if I told you she actually has a pretty solid resume? She was on the board last year, as well as having 16 yrs at Goldman-Sachs. triblive.com/news/pennsyl...

She actually has experience in these roles at BDT & MSD Partners prior to her time on Meta's board. But also... I imagine conservatives saying it's unfair to call her a DEI hire never looked at the resume of anyone else called a DEI hire.

In the same way this administration and its supporters have accused others of being DEI hires (baseless accusations), she too is one. Qualified, but otherwise overlooked for political kudos. Though, we can't ignore her proximity to Trump and Zuckerberg's pandering to Trump. I am sure that's a plus

Silly me, I thought Trump would just wait it out until May. But I guess when midterms threaten your authoritarian rule and you are starting conflicts left-and-right, you got to pull out all the stops to woo people. Absurd. www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/s...

Hi! I am Latino. I am Christian (though I am sure they would argue otherwise). I am married to a white woman. *I* am happily married. Dale, on the other hand, is not. This is proof of that. It's just sad. "Honey, I am happy, but I want to let you know that this marriage isn't ideal."

Right wingers: I’m a “I hate my wife guy”

He goes on to say that "hundreds" of interracial couples agreed with him and "whole hundreds" of non-interracial couples disagree. Nvm that I think this is utter bs. He is in a position where some number of people saying these things is no absurd, but expected. What a joke.

I would just like to remind everyone that Watters' ex-wife had filed for divorce after he admitted to having an affair with a Producer of his show. An affair he initiated by letting the air out of her tires so he could offer her a ride. And that we should bomb/gas the UN because of the escalator.

Jesse Watters highlights that Renee Nicole Good, the woman killed by ICE, had "pronouns in her bio" and "leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage"

After he fires, notice how far away his legs are from the front-left wheel. It almost looks like he loses balance for how far out his upper body is in order to "lean" on the front of the SUV. Also notice how quick his one buddy jumps off the car to join. Or how quickly everyone adjusts their masks

BS. The guy who shot her *walked* over to her car (after it crashed) after he shot her, turned around without bothering to render aid or even call for aid, *walked* back to his "team" & then drove away!! Did he run over *himself* so he could check himself into a hospital? bsky.app/profile/girl...

Two things: 1. I want to think of a term to coin the weird use of quotes on words that I am correlating with Trump. Are they artisan or not? What are you suggesting by saying ""artisan""? 2. Is this a greater or lesser threat to democracy and capitalism than Obama's tan suit?

New York Post looks normal

You know, I am critical about journalists for a lot of things: -Inability to ask follow up questions -Caving to censorship -Not understanding what caving to a narcissist entails -Overall cowardice But man do they not break. If I heard someone say "drone free roof", I would bust out laughing.

Legitimately crying right now. Wooo. When the worst person you know says something funny. "Drone-free roof" is hilarious. Also thought the video looped when instead he just repeats nonsense like a broken text generator.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on the ballroom: "It's bigger than I told you. It's, you know -- after realizing we're gonna do the inauguration in that building, it's got all bulletproof glass, it's got all drone, they call it drone-free roof. It's dronessss -- won't touch it. It's a big beautiful safe building."

I am amused by the idea that the Right has been claiming that Illegal Immigrants have been taking money away from US citizens. So their solution here is to give them money to leave. Although, really, this administration's solution for anything is to promise something and never actually deliver.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Kristi Noem makes an announcement on Fox & Friends: "We are saying that if you voluntarily want to go home now to your country, if you're in the US illegally, we'll give you $3,000 through the holidays to send you home. We'll buy you a ticket, give you $3,000 to go home."

No. You don't understand. This is actually secretly/not-so-secretly a good thing for the industry. Now, all countries know that our military is (apparently) stifled by these projects and will invest in them. They're going to get so much revenue! This is like... NIMBY, but for a nation.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

CBS paid the president of the United States millions in bribe money and now they censor news reports so it does not annoy him. I don’t know how much plainer we can put this.

He is a cartoon character. He is that character written to be the one-dimensional representation of a negative quality so they can be laughed at. The character you're happy to see on TV but would loathe to know in real life. And he is the President of a country. And he is pettiness incarnate.

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.

Pokemon fans with regards to post game and DLC: This is easy. My pokemon are overleveled. I want a challenge, Game Freak. Pokemon fans today: No fair. The timer is too short. The rogue megas are too hard. I have to have level 100's. I hate this DLC and Game Freak really messed up.
