I get they're inextricably intertwined but I kind of feel like leaning so much into how he was the longtime best buddy of the world's most notorious sex criminal has given it something of the feel of a political gotcha rather than the important part, which is that the president raped people.

newmethos reposted

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.

This is the genuinely batshit thing about these markets - they were created to capture the wisdom of the crowds in a different way and using them as a proxy for probability is very dumb even before you add the betting part!

lol reminder that betting markets are extremely accurate measures of conventional wisdom

Prediction markets are horseshit, they should be regulated out of existence, 4 years from now neither Kalshi nor Polymarket will exist and good fucking riddance

Surfacing the consensus of an outcome based on the crowd is a useful baseline. It is however not even remotely like a line set by actual professionals who know shit for a living

I will legit miss access to a lot of soccer games when this sub finally plays out, but I will not miss paying for so much horseshit like the ads on Disney and Hulu and the fully broken Watch system on ESPN

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

Good riddance and #LFG

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

I would be calling for a yellow card for Cucurella, too. He can’t handle Yamal and he’s fouling Yamal constantly, but that shirt pull was especially unnecessary

Something that's not being said. The REASON why Blanche and Bill Essayli are so defiantly violating the Constitution is bc John Roberts said they can't be prosecuted so long as they're following Trump's illegal orders. Blanche's criminality arises DIRECTLY out of Trump v. US.

That was a terrible sequence, Mbeumo just completely giving up on the attacking move right when Cunha passes into the space where he was and it all leads to Lammens panicking

HOLY SHIT. In a sworn statement yesterday, an ICE agent told a federal judge that an ICE flight to Equatorial Guinea had been cancelled and so couldn't be used to bring Ahmed Soliman back to the United States. The plane just landed in Equatorial Guinea. prospect.org/2026/10/23/t...

NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

A good solid reminder that what executives object to isn't spending money, it's spending money on people. It's a whole ass different budget line to burn $15 million a day on tech for animation than it is to pay (way less than that) for animators.

Now do the same for the fans. My guess is the WNBA and NBA stay where they are, but the NFL and MLB completely flip. I have no feel for the NHL at all.

Like, I feel like the median baseball fan is at minimum skeptical of management in a way that maps more Democratic (and anti-lockout) whereas the median NFL fan has way less connection to labor issues

This article came out six weeks ago, there's enough public evidence that @foreignpolicy.com let me say "bribed" without caveat, and still, the new Kushner revelations show he was BRIBED. Directly bribed. Right into secret foreign accounts bribed. Massively corrupt, ultimately world-changing bribes.

Like why in 2026 does anyone believe rich sacks of shit borrowing eye watering amounts of money to carve companies up have even the smallest interest in communities or governance or quality products or any of it? Absolutely baffling.
