🔥 Hot take: The Pentagon has essentially announced that Claude is so much better than other models that they must have it. Anthropic has signaled that they so much more principled than their competitors, that they can’t. When the Pentagon backs down or loses this is a huge PR win for Anthropic.

As you can see from the screenshot we had no fun at all catching up!

Do you know about ARDS mimics? These are diseases that *LOOK* like ARDS but have very different treatment: AEP, DAH, OP, HP, EVALI, PJP, AIP, etc. If you care for people with ARDS but this alphabet 🍜 of disease doesn’t immediately ring a 🛎️ you NEED to give this episode a listen! 1/

Vinay Prasad’s appointment to lead the FDA’s CBER division is a disaster for biotech stocks but it’s worse for patients who depend on new therapies. Therapies that Vinay has signaled he won’t approve.

I really liked Season 1 of Fallout. One thing that struck me as unrealistic was Vault-Tec’s evil plan: to literally nuke the entire world so they could fundamentally reshape society according to their twisted views. Anyway, it feels pretty realistic after this week…

I’m strongly supportive of developing Starship; we need a rapidly reusable heavy lift platform to replace the space shuttle. But we can do this without exposing commercial flights to the risks of falling debris. SpaceX should be launching at night & out of Florida not Texas…

They're going to destroy the Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the VA healthcare system. Firing this many employees will render it effectively unusable by increasing patient wait times to the point of uselessness.

Pulmonologist here. “Bronchial crisis” isn’t a thing. The phrase you are looking for is aspiration or aspiration pneumonia.

Breaking News: Pope Francis suffered a bronchial crisis, a potentially serious setback, the Vatican said. He has been in the hospital for the past two weeks.

The US is experiencing the largest measles outbreak including the first deaths from the disease in decades. RFk Jr - the newly confirmed HHS secretary - believes that this is a big pharma hoax & measles isn’t a deadly disease. We are so screwed.

In just weeks, the Trump/Musk administration’s suspension of PEPFAR has already led to thousands of additional cases of HIV that would have otherwise been prevented. DOGE is essentially the opposite of EA; maximizing harm for trivial/non-existent savings. www.wired.com/story/usaid-...
