We did the Hard Hat Ellis Island tour first, and I can’t recommend it enough. You see dilapidated portions of the hospital, which are being preserved. I learned so much.

Nothing like screaming toward the Lincoln Tunnel with your Russian cabbie doing 80mph with the windows open on an October Sunday night as the full moon above outshines even the Manhattan skyline.

It’s incredibly hard to not be completely demoralized about the job search. I can work but for medical reasons it HAS to be a fully remote job—and there aren’t a lot of those. I’ve applied for at least a dozen positions (including temp, PT, contract) to no success. Any help is greatly appreciated.

They used AI to build the site where authors go to claim money in a settlement about how Anthropic illegally downloaded books to make their AI. And the site is a wretched excuse for a portal. They know it's terrible. But they used AI anyway, and continue to, no matter how terrible it is.

The exciting part about the Anthropic vibe coded settlement backend is that no matter how many times you fix your information, the same broken bits will reappear. It will be total madness. The entire backend is broken because, AS THEY TOLD ME ON THE PHONE, they know it is because they vibe coded.

Women's rights. Yep, even with Roe reversed. When my mother was pregnant with me, birth defects due to rubella were rampant. Now? Nope. The air in LA, thanks to catalytic converters. Sexual harassment has a name now. Hitting your kids is looked down on now. Animal rescue. Cancer treatment. Food.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Never a bad time to say trans women are women. I love my trans sisters and brothers and siblings, and anyone who comes for them can fuck right off.

Turning to BlueSky to find a home for 9-month-old kitty, "Shoes", Baltimore/DC area. His rescuers would love to keep him but they and their toddler are all violently allergic; not even meds and air purifiers are helping. But they love Shoes and want him to find a good home. Deets: (1/5)

North Mist Studios is a collection of former BioWare video game developers, including senior narrative team members behind the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. Now, we're working on a brand new title: The Concierge, a story of Canadian Assassins in a Spy-Thriller Office Drama.

I love BallotTrax, and I love voting in California. Just got notice that my ballot was received and counted. Voting by mail is fantastic, and should be enlarged upon and made available to all. Voting should be EASIER, not harder.

Robert Flaherty had Nanook redo multiple events for Nanook of the North in 1922. It's always been this way. Every film is manipulated one way or another. (Seems fitting for a Holmes doc, tbh.) The point is, did we still learn something? Did we come away somehow enlightened or moved?

i think it's good that You Can See Everything is prompting people to question the truth and ethics of documentary filmmaking and i really hope that everyone goes further and applies that same skepticism to literally every documentary ever made 💞

That's not to defend all documentaries. Some are puddles of lies. Tiger King ignored facts left and right, and went out of its way to make an animal abusing would-be killer its hero. Chariots of the Gods and all those "aliens did it" docs are festering swamps of obfuscation.

You can't shoot film without making a number of decisions, and those decisions will slant how people see it. What angle are you shooting from? What lens are you using? How did you edit it? Who did you choose to talk to? All documentaries give us a sideways view of the world. There's no other way.

Kenna + I just returned from vet where she “tried to eat their heads” during X-rays. Their words. 🫣 We’ve tried + we’ve tried but Kenna’s colon continues to be impacted. It’s so urgent that she’s scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Can you help us help Kenna the bipod cat? www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati...
