Patriotism is the mind-killer. National pride is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will remain myself despite the state. When it has died I will turn the inner eye and see no trace. Where the state has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

No more “here’s your check sir”. No more “oh sorry! I thought you were a girl!” None of it. I am my own person, not a man or a woman, or anything. I am myself and I am a person. That should be *enough*.

I could use a pizza and a movie and tacos and my darkwave playlist and a dr pepper and some fries and a shower and a big glass of milk and going to bed

The biggest downside to polyamory is that sometimes my partner is unavailable due to seeing their other partner. Like, no, come back, I miss you

I think some people care more about statistics than the suffering of those who they determine are the minority. It’s these people who shrink my faith in humanity.

It makes me really uncomfortable when I see people expressing that sometimes it’s okay for the state to murder somebody. I’m begging every adult to take 15 minutes and read accounts of innocent people who were executed and later exonerated. Just 15 minutes. Please.

A rube goldberg machine that uses a series of dominoes and marbles to throw a gummy into my mouth, ensuring minimum movement as I rot in bed

Fundamentally the conceit of capitalism is “any job that isn’t ownership of capital should hurt and be bad.” Without the fear of homelessness and starvation, people wouldn’t put up with the unreasonable demands of capital.

Y’all. The English language refuses to be pinned down by rules of any kind. It grabs any new word it can reach, it chews it up, and spits out a garbled knock off version. A version with a new, slightly more specific, definition. I love my weird ass dutch language. Sierra Leone is our blessed future.

I’m continually mystified by liberals loving NATO. Like, the cold war has been over for ages. Why are they simping for an alliance system rooted in an era long past?

It was 1963. My papa was getting off of his shift from the Safeway butcher’s shop. My nana had arrived from nursing school with the car that would take them both home. When my papa reached the car, my nana gave him a hug and let him know that she was pregnant with my aunt.

It was 2023. I am finishing my last essay for college. I failed this class. So it will be the last, last, essay that will actually take me over the finish line. I get on the bus home, and wait for tomorrow.

If I get a job at the liquor store, you best believe I will become the most annoying mixologist. I’d be too immersed in dumbass alcohol culture not to.

Here's video from The Tribune's Trevor Christensen:

I visited my Grandpa’s grave recently. His parents are just a few yards away. The changed these people had seen in the world were immense. My great grandfather served in both world wars. My grandfather grew up in the shadow of the second and passed in 2025.

I have read their journals, where they speak about the Spanish flu, segregation, and the internet. When things were hard, they relied on other regular people to get through it. I can only hope to do the same.
