The Kestner Homestead in Olympic National Park’s Quinault Rain Forest was established in 1891 under the Homestead Act. Despite an early flood, the Kestner family cleared land, planted an orchard, and built structures. Later home to the Higleys, it's now preserved by the NPS. #Washington #NPS
