Send them a $1,300 check every month and tell them America is so great it's issuing a regular dividend to citizens now just like our greatest corporations do.

ICE VIOLENTLY BEAT A FATHER IN FRONT OF HIS 1 YEAR OLD CHILD. Please repost this every 🔊 bsky.app/profile/resi...

RESIST | FIGHT™@resistfight.com

A one-year-old girl watched masked ICE agents beat her father on the roadside in Donna, Texas. He is a U.S. citizen, and his wife had already told the agents that they were Americans. The agents continued the assault as his wife watched helplessly. Repost this everywhere!

Donald Trump and every one of his appointees and cabinet members and advisors must be destroyed financially, stripped of literally all their money and assets, and denied all future government employment. Let them live off of whatever UBI and public housing/health care they can scrounge up.

This is a big one that I think many people don't fully appreciate. Given a room of 1,000 people, it can be hard for one person to find and help those who need the most help. Give everyone UBI and watch as more than half the room leaves, because they only needed a bit of money. Those left need more.

Algeria Worblebot@algeriaworblebot.bsky.social

This whole debacle is another reason why I'm champing at the bit for UBI. If everybody gets their basic needs met without eligibility & compliance hoops to jump through, they won't be clogging up the pipes for the people who need extra assistance.

Universal basic income ensures that everyone has the ability to express basic demand for basic goods and services. This is market improving. Markets can't differentiate between 0 and Ø. A store can fail because not enough customers. But is that because they didn't like it or they did but were broke?

UBI Works@ubiworks.bsky.social

South Korea's UBI pilot shows major success 1 year. Local businesses grew by 2,000 and rural population went up 4.7%. Most of the money was spent, causing "an increase in new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair and beauty salons."

The food people need is in grocery stores. They just need the permission slips (cash) to access it. Food banks should not exist. They are a symptom of failed policy. They exist because universal basic income doesn't. We need UBI and it's a fight because the people doing this are doing it on purpose:

This is why it's such nonsense for anyone to say that with UBI, people will lose meaning. First, jobs aren't any source of meaning for many people with jobs. Second, the jobs people can't say no to are in the way of a getting a lot of meaningful work done. And third, the rich seem to find meaning.

I feel that over half of what is being given to the military right now should instead be put towards benefitting the public through stuff like universal basic income and single-payer healthcare

The take that UBI is bad because it would make us need government is bad. The same argument could be used against doing Social Security or Medicare if we didn't already have them. If everyone needs a government program, that's good for democracy and bad for politicians who threaten those programs.

More importantly, why the fuck would you TELL the public where you’re storing “sniper ammo”

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Why do we need to build a massive triumphal arch for sniper ammo and drones? We don’t have any place else that those can be stored?

It won’t cost billions. Knocking that stupid arch down will take no time at all, it will just have to be hauled away and the grounds restored. Same with the Rose Garden. I don’t know what they’re going to do with the stinking ballroom, but that has to go also, and that could be big bucks.

Making sure that unpaid care work is supported is great, but limiting it to only married couples and reducing the support for single and unmarried working parents just isn't the right way to go about it. The right way to do it is universal basic income.

I wrote about the proposal for RISE Pilots, which is a new conservative alternative to UBI that looks to consolidate a bunch of existing programs into one benefit with a low phaseout rate—which is good—but instead of using unconditional cash, using programmable currency with behavioral requirements.

Because of union loss, offshoring, automation, and gig labor, workers have far less collective bargaining power to demand a larger share of the pie. I believe the only real solution is to distribute that share directly as UBI and, in doing so, skyrocket the individual bargaining power of all workers

Mike Konczal@mtkonczal.bsky.social

BLS this morning, with revised 2Q data: "The labor share, which is the percentage of output that accrues to workers in the form of compensation, was 52.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026, the lowest level in the series, which begins in the first quarter of 1947."
