Gritty, impressive win from Northwestern field hockey over #6 Iowa. 33 Big Ten wins in a row now for the two time defending national champions

Terrific piece

Veronica Burton from distance gives GS the lead with 41 secs to go

What does the NBA want in the next WNBA Commissioner? Someone who can make their owners the most money possible, and who can maintain as much NBA control over the league as possible. Anything else they mention is either meaningless waffle, or something they view as a path to one of those two. #WNBA

Remarkable comeback win by #1 Northwestern field hockey over #6 Duke! The 'Cats were down 3-1 entering the 4th, but two drag flick goals from Ilse Tromp sent the game to overtime, and a remarkable run by Piper Borz created the game-winning goal, the first in Sol Martinez's college career.

Veronica Burton in August: 13.1 ppg 3.9 rpg 6.5 apg 0.8 to/gm 1.9 stl/gm 46/38/84 shooting splits 8.67 (!) A/TO ratio Best ball control month in WNBA history

In her past 12 games, Veronica Burton has dished out 77 assists with just 9 turnovers. No other player in WNBA history has ever had a 12 game stretch that featured 10 or fewer TOs and even 60 assists. An unbelievable run at the point guard position. (stats via @acrossthetimeline.com)

This was immediately after Jonquel Jones knocked her over. As a friend said, “the most Veronica Burton revenge imaginable”

Also I made this present for you Valkyries put Lynx in Valkatraz: all Blocks & Steals from curse-breaking win

veronica burton on tip hayes: “I just think she’s the coolest person ever”

Sophie Cunningham's -28 in today's game is the worst single-game +/- in a win in WNBA history. #WNBA

A bit surprised to see two players each from the Mystics and Sparks ahead of a second player (Veronica Burton) from the #3 team in the league. Hoping VB gets in as an injury replacement!

In other news, that was absolutely the right call for the offensive foul on Gray. #WNBA

Breakdown of fan, media and player voting for WNBA All-Star starters:

It is absolutely brutal to watch at times. Every aspect of the broadcast, too

Today I learned that Nia Coffey is the best blocker of corner three pointers in WNBA history. Read Josiah!!

Career high six threes for Nia Coffey tonight in a Lynx win over the Sky! What a two day span for Northwestern alums in the W

Electric start to the WNBA season (h/t @herhoopstats.com)

Absolutely incredible basketball game. Valks nearly blew it by not calling timeout with 24.8 left, but what incredible defense down the stretch

Same as the angel overturn yesterday. If you lead with the elbow and create the contact there’s no way it should be a defensive foul and should probably be offensive, hate the call

Veronica Burton is really really really really good

There's no way Jose Fernandez really told this Prime crew that he was surprised by Jess Shepard's passing ability, right

Abominable defense tonight from the Sky. Difficult to watch. And way too much Coulibaly down the stretch for me

Northwestern Women’s Golf slips inside the top 15 cut line at the NCAA Championships and their season will continue into Memorial Day for the 3rd year in a row! The ‘Cats will need a special Monday showing, though, to leapfrog 7 teams and a 10 stroke gap in order to reach the match play stage.

Unreal fourth quarter comeback and win for Northwestern lacrosse. Nine natties!!! So many storylines (McCollester! Foster! The Hillers do it again!) but the spectacular defense and goalkeeping from Mary Carroll and Jenika Cuocco respectively are the headlines for me

A lot of first half problems for my first in-person Sky game this year but the effort on the glass was despicable

i have been looking at some two-round mock drafts and i think 1. it is extremely likely that nick martinelli gets drafted 2. it is going to be very funny to watch NBA Guys who hate college basketball see what happens when martinelli shoots free throws

Rickea so damn good tonight. And Gabs did her thing. Ignoring a lot of the annoying stuff (refs) because the future looks pretty bright right now

Incredible from Portland. Tough timing for Nia Coffey on WNBA League Pass, who was closing out Phoenix at the exact same time

It's NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament time! Join me and Calvin Kaplan live at the top of the hour on ESPN+ as top overall seed Northwestern takes on James Madison on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Wasn’t always pretty but Skylar and EWill are closers, Rickea is gonna have a fun year, and Gabs looked ready. Don’t care how bad Portland is (very!) we will always take double digit road wins without three rotation players

So good to see Veronica Burton and Valkyries defense on my screen again

"I'd have to see a different angle". Different from the one that glaringly showed her foot sliding under the landing foot of the shooter? #WNBA

Valkyries have made some real mistakes this offseason and have also caught some very bad breaks. But heading into the season with Kiah Stokes as your only true center is just unacceptable for a franchise that wants to contend

Northwestern softball completes the series sweep against Purdue! CGSO with 11 Ks for Marina Mason in a 1-0 win for the 'Cats' 10th in a row. NU came into the weekend needing a sweep to put themselves in the driver's seat for an NCAA Tournament berth, and that's exactly what they delivered.

Massive 11-4 win for the Northwestern softball, who goes for the series sweep tomorrow. Donahey and Avvisato led the way offensively but Renae Cunningham was certainly the overall hero with seven scoreless innings in relief (!!), allowing just one hit in the best outing of her career

An absolutely unbelievable win for Northwestern SB in game 1 of a must-have series vs Purdue. NU was down 6-0 after two, but a massive comeback culminated in Emma Raye’s heroic three run bomb to take the lead in T7. Then a remarkable escape act by Marina Mason with the bases loaded in B7 sealed it
