I developed a technique for writing combat music for video games. Aesthetically, it's inspired by the battle music in various Zelda games, but I based it on counterpoint to make the dynamic fragments more seamless while increasing the amount of variation one can get out of the core ideas. #gamedev

Just watched Return to Silent Hill. Pros: some fun video game-y shots, setting and atmosphere was spot on. Cons: James felt unbothered by it all for most of the film, CGI was a bit unconvincing, Silent Hill never felt dangerous. Slower, spookier build-up and practical effects would be nice.

If anyone comes across this, I highly recommend reading Dominic's replies. I avoid places that implement tipping like the plague, but he makes some great points. If I ever find myself in the US again, I will likely even tip. ...just please don't export that culture across the pond, thank you.

RPG tip of the day: if you want to make encounters more difficult, please don’t increase enemy HP. It makes encounters long and boring. Increase average damage per round and improve enemy tactics. Excitement is on that fine line when players don’t know if they’ll win or lose. More rounds won’t help.

I’m seeing more and more non-profit businesses pop up, like non-profit furniture stores and non-profit cafés, and I think that’s pretty neat. My own audio production business is also non-profit, as a matter of fact!

I’ve been curious about the inner workings of some of my favorite RPGs lately, so I started graphing data as I played. I think there are some interesting things to explore surrounding the psychology of numbers and comparison gameplay experiences. I opened some games in Ghidra too, but that’s WIP.
