Not that funny. Ask me anything about cinema, liberalism, shoujo manga or history of European philosophy.

Get the basic point and the Brewers are the superior team statistically but a 7 game sample says nothing about team quality really since interleague play started

every fan of an AL team should be experiencing secondhand shame that this is the best team their league produced. you should all feel like Lord Toranaga when Tadayoshi spoke out of turn at the Council of Regents

My favourite film showing experience is an India Song q&a with Bruno Nuytten and he was like yeah I have no idea what the film was about I was just doing the shooting.

This is why In the Mood for Love is such a good film. The characters are pure aesthetic symbols for romance and don't actually require WKW to give them, you know, character.

I have watched Pierrot le Fou many times and its generally been one of my least favourite Godards, but this viewing something clicked and I think I finally comprehend the basic direction of the film: its a bunch of stupid people who substitute the cinema and poetry for the actuality of life and die.

It fits in with his basic ideas in Histoire(s) du cinema, that cinema has in some sense failed its basic task of depiction of the real by substituting it for a seduction machine, the central couple in the film obviously don't particularly like each other but still grope at some cinematic romance.

Obviously this seems like a fairly trivial reading of the film but the film invites you to over-read it like Ferdinand and Marianne do their own life. But despite all the covering up they live a fairly petty and disappointing romance that ends in basic betrayal and to the end Ferdinand is an idiot.

That one in particular has been pretty conclusively debunked (mostly because SDI came after Soviet military spending had already skyrocketed in the late 1970s/early 1980s due to Brezhnev and Andropov attempting to "win" the Cold War after the US withdrawal from Vietnam)

Hell, there's an argument that the Soviet response to SDI was so expensive that it was a contributor to the collapse of the USSR!

genuinely embarrassing that TNR would publish this NIMBY propaganda full of factual errors

My current stance is that AI can write "page turner fanfiction" levels at best but also the gatekeepers of taste have been revealed to have no clothes.

a) that award committees aren't so smart b) that award committees don't care about quality c) that ai can write good fiction (honestly not my impression, but I've never tried to convince one to write a book) d) that it's all relative, and a crapshoot, and ai is just more crapshoot entries
