Much of this spring/summer has been recovering from surgery. Economy is... sure something that would be nice to have. If people would like some art, small and/or big, I'm all open for commissions and work-for-hire. Even the smallest things would help out. (mail to nicklas@nyvinter.se)

I'm relearning how to do draw in order to not have pain after a while, hold the pen differently, trying to find an angle on the cintiq that mitigates most issues. (Do I want tingly fingers or neck issues? Fingers any day.) Yesterday's painting was terrible so went back to Rebelle's charcoal. #art

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

There's lots of things you can say about the people in this photo, but damn it's boring. Devoid of both personality and empathy, the only artistic merit is that they've wrangled all the people into being dead still and in focus. If I took this photo I'd sell my camera gear out of shame.

alec@suddensense.bsky.social

this has to be the worst photoshoot i have ever seen, i think they just gave up

And if I were in the photo, I'd question what I did to deserve to be lumped in with these fuckers for a minute of eternity.

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Been fighting a large bout of impostor syndrome today. Not just with art but with everything. Don't recommend.

JDA is doing a round of responses on a new Bsky account. He asked me what part of his article I disagreed with. I blocked him. No fucking around here.

Imagine how much better the world would have been if rich assholes like Larry had told his son to grow the fuck up rather than hand the oversized toddler conglomerate company toys to pull apart. Oh, and tax the rich into oblivion.

“The borrowing let Ellison keep his stock and avoid locking in taxable gains, and highlighted how billionaires often employ a strategy called ‘buy, borrow and die’ to retain their wealth without selling assets.”

Before Veilguard dropped I had thoughts about running a Dragon Age campaign in Sword of the Serpentine set in Tevinter. Kinda want to revive that idea.

nyvinter@nyvinter.se

The way Dragon Age Origins presented everything including setting information as in character texts and then having that slowly peeled back as wrong or misunderstood in the following games is still amazing. I love that so fucking much. (And yeah, I'm definitively a Dragon Age > Mass Effect person.)

Yes! And you get more ideas and figure out how to use them best by thinking about them, not get them as baby food mush. (Sorry, no offence to baby food.)

My big issue is that we're shown elf god worship in previous games and suddenly all knows that the elf gods were awful pricks. This is not a world breaking problem. It was rushed because of the restarts.

As were Mass Effect Andromeda. (It should have taken bigger risks! Especially with the villains rather then settling on organic reapers.) And the Andromeda tie-in novels were great. If you didn't like them that's fine. But they're not the clusterfucks some overly-precious fans claim they are.

Veilguard was fine. Simplified to lore a bit much at times that made it clash a bit — which it had to do due to the mandate to bring in lots and lots of new players and having to restart the game development so many times — but a good game.

In a way I'm impressed by how EA can be so spectacularly bad at reading the room.

JessEviltelli@mamavitelli.bsky.social

Ghoulish shit to read, even more embarrassing to write "we do not take this decision lightly" anyway "EA SPORTS"

I'm going to meet them halfway: they can keep ONE data centre each provided their homes are not sound-proofed and it's next door no more than 40 metres from said house. And no living in another house bullshit.

Be sure to check your child’s Halloween candy. Last year, we found a copy of Atlas Shrugged in a fun-size Milky Way.

I do think there's a place for "cozy horror" to exist and have a function — and ironically I would probably put some Steven King there, Twin Peaks at times but not Fire Walk With Me, and Camp — but as Dorian says here: it needs to still be *horror*. You can't skip on that.

Cozy mysteries still have murders, sometimes more of them than a serial killer spree. And cozy horror should not only have their edges left, they should have human teeth in places you wouldn't expect.

I realise that not everyone uses cozy in this way. But in all of the cozy genres I feel it's there to lull you in until it pulls the rug out. Because it's still telling a story and there needs to be some friction there to pull you in and along. If not, why a story and not a crossword?

I can't fathom how to have that amount of money so I'd probably get an omnichord. (Non-frivolous: buy the small plot of land behind the house, build a guest house there, and then ship in friends for the week. Because seeing friends and making sure they're comfortable in never frivolous.)

Peter@notalawyer.bsky.social

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

NPCs doodle. Not quite where I envisioned it but good enough. ("What if Tim Curry as Cardinal Richelieu crossed with Charles Bronson?") #art

THE EDUCATION OF PERCIVAL from @markwwc.bsky.social @jaisydayne.bsky.social and @longtalljodie.com. Mark has always been a good student of myth and folklore. Weaving that into his work and using it to reflect on our modern woes. An essential read for those who expect more from their comics.

The Education of Percival, my new webcomic with artist @jaisydayne.bsky.social and letterer @longtalljodie.com is now live. We'll be dropping a new page on Sundays. It's a story about how growing up we put this armor on to protect ourselves until we can learn how to take it off and live without it.

"ADHD label risks lifelong harm to children." If you don't label the disorder, then what we will be labelled instead is "Lazy." "Underachiever." "Doesn't live up to their potential." "Bad student." Those labels come with pain, shame, and abuse. The ADHD label comes with a chance for support.

1. The independent Taskforce — commissioned by NHS England, backed by government — concluded ADHD is under-diagnosed, under-recognised and under-treated in the UK. Not over. The press has reported the reverse of the finding www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...
