watching cis people repeatedly fail to find a way to counter the conservatives' emphasis on sex and thus watch them hopelessly struggle as conservatives bring back extremely invasive "sex testing" and defund or destroy women's organizations and social spaces is so. wow lol

I adore playing combo decks in card games. I wish there were a way to design a card game around combo matchups that makes any sense at all. Combo being so linear and trending towards having 80/20 or 20/80 matchups tends to lead towards it being unhealthy and leading to generally bad gameplay.

in Magic is really impactful I think. Maybe you can't get there without a sufficiently huge card pool, impossible for most new TCGs. But I do wonder how you would even go about trying to add hints of combo into modern TCGs. Or how you'd deal with organic combos that form as cardpools increase.

And honestly it ruined the game completely how easy it was to infinite combo. STS2 started early access with a lot of combo ability, but they took most of that away, and now infinite comboing requires very specific setups or relics.

Almost any modern TCG tries to do away with combo completely, and that makes a lot of sense for reasons above. Most people prefer combat and creatures and playing to the board as more fun than playing solitaire. I do think you lose a lot with this though. The feeling that you can do *anything*

of lockpieces and hate cards that exist make it so that combo can exist and be healthy in a lot of metagames. Yu-gi-Oh goes the other way where every deck is combo or prison (Yu-gi-Oh players please don't argue this you live in a different world than I). I think that kinda sucks personally.

Hearthstone had a surprising amount of combo when I played around 2018, but I suspect they got away from that in the modern era. It was pretty rough back then. Could be wrong though. Maybe 1p deckbuilders are the place to do this, like STS. I've played that game, it's called Vampire Crawlers.

I actually think that Magic is probably the best set up amongst card games to enable combo. There are just so many cards and design knobs to turn that come with age that there are stopgaps against almost anything. Instant speed counters, mana being a gate towards a lot of combo, and the plethora

(acting in American Psycho but I forgot my lines) wow... business card.... a perfect rectangle... white, with words on it... All the key information is on here Jared Leto: (also forgot his lines) Plus it has Dope Handfeel as well

It’s wild how Weezer had 1 critically unsuccessful album and it broke rivers’ brain so hard that they became a horrendous hit-chasing pop group for like 25 years in a row. Literally the most “they used to be good” band ever. There’s some bangers in their post Pinkerton catalogue but it’s bleak af.

Idk why I find them so fascinating. Maybe it’s just how excellent their first two albums are. But I’ve been on a weezer kick lately. It’s just insane that the same band wrote “Say it Ain’t So” and “Beverly Hills”.

Feels like i'm kinda just withering away doing work and not much else of note lately. Certainly depression and anxiety. But also hard to find a new hobby or social outlet now that I am so turned off by Magic, which is where 99% of my friends came from the last 10 years.

I love my job, but it's also so draining. It's a lot. I feel too exhausted to do much of anything on weekends and evenings other than rot in bed and play video games or watch youtube. At least when the NBA was on that was something to follow, now even that feels empty.

Now just here venting on a social media account that barely posts anything and that no one reads. It's probably better that way than the modicum of relevance I had in the magic sphere on twitter anyways. Just a bit of a lonely time. I'll probably get thru it like always.

We lost 3 win and ins in a row lol. Individually I went 0-5-1, neobrand felt completely unplayable. Was excited to top 8 with no round wins for a second tho lol

Playing in NRG Indy tomorrow after being out of the game for ~a year and a half. Not expecting to do well but looking forward to the hangs. Maybe my team can carry me 😅
