Appeasing Trump. UK would need to divert £44.7bn from essential NHS services to pay for new medicines under the terms of the UK-US trade deal. US corporate profits boosted. Could result in more than 200,000 avoidable UK deaths. Self-sufficiency for essentials saves lives.

If companies can't run data centres without polluting our air and water, pushing up energy bills, abusing workers' rights, harming local communities or wrecking the climate – then they shouldn't be allowed to run them A safe climate and healthy environment are necessities – tech bro profits aren't
…for a little more context
It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23
Renewables and battery tech mean it’s cheap to produce, runs at a surplus and ensures supply. Energy has moved on, so why are fossil fuels being allowed to dominate? We currently PAY renewable sources NOT to operate so fossil fuel sources can in the UK. Why?!
Beginning next week, Australians get free electricity for three hours every afternoon. That's what happens when you build out wind, sun, and batteries open.substack.com/pub/billmcki...

Interesting, isn’t it? Tax profits on one, turnover on the other…
Corporation: We made $5 billion but spent $4.9 billion to keep going, so our net taxable income is $100 million. Gov’t: That’s right. Worker: I made $50,000 but spent $45,000 to keep going, so my net taxable income is $5,000. Gov’t: That’s wrong.

I’d be surprised if even 10% of what’s charged actually goes towards looking after the child. If health and social care are to stand a chance of recovering, privatisation has to go. It’s nothing more than a scam in most cases.
Curse of private equity Horrific, unregulated, and very profitable. Companies making cash from England’s children in care. Average charge to the state by a private provider for a child in “care” is £384,020 a year, some charge £1m+. Provide poor service l. End privatisation.

I won’t pretend they’re perfect, but they are actually delivering on pledges. The economy is growing, things are starting to be fixed, and there are actual achievable plans that don’t leave financial black holes. Something reform have never been able to offer, or the tories ever bothered to do.
Labour has achieved more than Reform UK has even proposed.

I don’t think people really appreciate how much of a difference having a NHS makes. NI is no different to an insurance premium, but likely cheaper, and there’s no excess to pay Healthcare in US literally bankrupts people, very frequently. You DO NOT want to copy that model
Nigel Farage wants to replace our NHS with a US-style privatised healthcare system which treats the superrich bankrupts the well-off leaves the rest of us to die ... via The Daily Scar
