I know for a fact I clipped this tiny segment from a Jack Benny Show skit some time ago but couldn't find it so I had to clip it all over again. Sometimes you see some bullshit & you just have to scream, "NOW WHAT!?!?!?" like this appearance from Mel Blanc as a burnt-out customer service employee.

my assumption here then is that i just need to find/choose something that implements the iso/udf spec in the right way, and can sign the logo after... if i so choose anyway right now, still figuring that out :)

sure enough, given a sector size of 2048 bytes, and the first 16 (0...15) sectors being reserved for system, that gives me a nice total of 0x8000 bytes reserved before the filesystem itself properly starts...

which funnily enough indicates that this area isn't *completely* unused on pc, at least on the exact iso i looked at. but... isn't that kinda interesting too? every disc just has 32768 (decimal) bytes at the start, which isn't being used for much of anything...

oh, this actually gets very obvious if you look at a (small, cd) ps2 game and a regular computer cd in a hex editor. the pc image is just filles with 00 bytes until 0x7800, but the ps2 disc immediately starts out with 0x05 repeating a lot, and then there's a bunch of other crap after

Really though... this year has been really difficult too. I'm not quite over the bad patch of my life that the last few years have been. The slowness will continue indefinitely... sorry. I just hope it's worth the wait.

I'm also trying to start gearing up to assemble the final 1.0 patch for Kid Paddle (even if I fail to satisfy myself in the end!) because I think after all these years, everyone waiting for it must be getting impatient. Remember, 🚫 no AI/MTL 🚫 has been used in the patch, and there never will be! :)

also, apparently fargus released a localization of mike's monstrous adventure done by jester's studio? which is another game that deserved and seemed not to get translated in other languages? so i might get distracted by that

there was a bunch of localizations of piglet big game (the hulabee one) in like, french, dutch... polish, and stuff, but i don't know of any for mike. and it's a way better game!

tlc did eventually re-release the game under the title carmen sandiego's great chase through time, but i don't remember that actually making compatibility improvements

i should make something clear btw this game came out in english in 1997 this game came out in russian in *2007* i remember as a kid this game was a pain in the ass as it would frequently crash and not run correctly on windows xp

i'm really curious if noviy disk did something about this... the readme specifies "me/xp/vista" and me is the only one of those that wouldn't have had problems with the original version of the game
