Hi! I’m running for Aliso Viejo City Council, District 2. This November, we can flip the majority to a Council that will take action to defend every resident. The resistance starts at home! www.steven4av.com

It is so amazing when your childhood heroes become your adult heroes. Thank you @markhamillofficial.bsky.social for being an inspiration on and off the screen. Your example is a big part of why I’m running for local office and I’ll do my best to live up to it!
All these years later.... I'm STILL a member of The Resistance.

“Fascists who aren’t aware of their fascism,” is how director Paul Verhoeven described the film’s characters.
I’m running for the people of Aliso Viejo and against MAGA, because those are really the same thing. Maybe that makes me a long shot but my neighbors are worth taking the shot nonetheless. Read the article and if you like what you see, help me get the word out and make this one count!
The Nazis did this with groups such as the White Rose Society, except the sentence was the Guillotine. Mark my words, the Fascists are just getting started. I’m putting my neck on the line (perhaps literally) by running for office while openly saying this. I only ask that YOU help spread the word.
They gave US zinester Elizabeth Soto *50 fucking years* in prison for publishing a zine that supports an anti-fascism stance. Prosecutors also used her feminism themed zine, and an anti-AI zine as evidence against her. This is unprecedented.

Friendly reminder that when they detain immigrants with no due process, they are executing a trial run for doing the same thing to anyone who dissents. They are already an atrocity, but detention centers are not being prepared to hold only immigrants… they are meant for you and me too.
Trump's Border Czar says Americans can expect to see "a lot more arrest activity" from ICE
Let me be absolutely clear. We need local leaders with the courage to proactively impede federal officers when said officers violate the Constitutional Rights of our people. If you want to see Aliso Viejo lead the charge, help me flip the majority by sharing my campaign as much as you can. 🙂😈
According to Trump's DOJ, doing the following things means you're involved in a conspiracy: • Posting “we need to become ungovernable” on Facebook • Wearing a sweatshirt that says “I’m Antifa!” • Possessing a bullhorn
This was always the plan. Ever since taking power the Trump Regime has never behaved like they had an election to win, because they never intended to have another free and fair election. If our democracy is to endure, the battle will take place in our cities, our neighborhoods and our streets.
IS THIS A THREAT? Mullin refuses to rule out ICE agents at the polls. Don’t let fear keep you away from participating in democracy. ✅ Vote early ✅ Vote by mail if available ✅ Know your rights before Election Day ✅ Document & report any intimidation ✅ Bear witness— if safe, record & post it

The will to resist simply isn’t coming from the top. We need local leaders with the courage to make bold choices to challenge ICE and the Trump Administration. With your help, one little city can start by saying we will not comply. Let’s get the word out, are you with me?
While you were sleeping, Senate Republicans jammed through a $70 BILLION blank check for ICE.

And when those in power at the national level flaunt their corruption with impunity, local leaders do too. We must restore accountability for those in public office at all levels. I’m starting at home by running for City Council, can you do your part by sharing this post?
Corruption in plain sight. It will take a decade to fix this debacle. #TrumpCorruption

Did you know that AV City Council members bragged about saving $50,000 by not hiring an independent search firm to recruit and vet city manager candidates and then offered their handpicked favorite $70,000 more PER YEAR than the last city manager?
With all due respect to Senator Andy Kim, a true American hero, Delaney Hall is not a failure. It is doing exactly what it was intended to do: normalizing the absence of due process, arbitrary law enforcement brutality and violent repression of dissent in an ongoing assault on American Democracy.
What I witnessed and experienced today was shameful. Delaney Hall is a failure; it’s this administration’s failure. The only way to make this right for our communities is to shut it down and make sure the failures we’ve seen never happen again. 4/4

With all the yard signs popping up across #CA47, many are asking "where are YOUR yard signs, Dave?" And the answer is that we want them in actual yards, where they actually make a difference. Help us spread the word—we'll deliver to your home! davemin.com/request-a-yard-sign

Every summer I repost this article on how to spot drowning. Please read it and pass on. In the last few years I’ve had SIX messages from people who saved a kid’s life after clicking on the link from my feed. slate.com/technology/2...
The criminal justice system as it stands today exists for one reason: protect the rich and powerful from everyone else.
MAGA Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Trump's endorsed candidate for Texas Senate. Tried to give a child predator — his personal friend — 1 day in jail for 3 years of abuse. A judge doubled it to 60 days. No sex offender registration. This is the Republican Party. 🤬

"technology automates everything" is a story with two endings the utopian one where abundance allows everyone to live a life of leisure, and the dystopian one where all the benefits accrue to a small set of oligarchs and everyone else suffers the oligarchs are asking us to cheer for option B

Donald Trump has intertwined his wealth so fully with our government that the only solution is to nationalize his companies and assets, along with those of his entire family. In the interests of fairness, we can provide them a one bedroom apartment in public housing and minimum wage jobs.

"As a general principle, you don’t tax the wealthy to build. You tax the wealthy to manage their power. (. . .)For this reason, every dollar over $100 million should fall into a confiscatory tax bracket of 100%. There’s no reason to allow anyone to accrue more wealth than that."
You know why Aliso Viejo doesn’t do this? Aside from the lack of will from our City Council, Aliso Viejo has no police department. We contract with the county to provide law enforcement services. This means that Deputies are “accountable” to the county Sheriff, not the people of Aliso Viejo.
The Santa Ana city council will consider an ordinance barring police from off-duty immigration enforcement work and a resolution supporting AB 1537, or the No Side Jobs for ICE Act.
