It's been a real tough week finishing this up and getting this out without WIFI at home, so glad to be on the other side and I've got a few weeks off from a big release I think

Good on Firefox, it's my main Linux browser which means its been my daily for the last >6 years. It's been great. This is the sorta thing they should be pitching! bsky.app/profile/fire...

Since 2004, this community has helped make Firefox and the open internet possible. Our “Come Back to Firefox” campaign reunites a few early internet icons to remind people what made the internet special, and why it’s worth protecting.

Sent out the last warning about CocoaPods going readonly soon! The light dimming is just over a week. I realise I've been writing Nov 1st, but that's a Sunday and it's cruel to potentially break things on a Sunday. So, it'll be on a Monday, on a timezone that works for US peeps

About a year ago I started building my own Server-Side React renderer for Puzzmo (a Relay-native SSR server.) I first built it in our upcoming puzzle editing tools Workshop, then refined it for data.puzzmo.com and today it's running on www.puzzmo.com

It took a year because these things are really tricky to get right! It's been a side project for a very long time, and it's a disruptive change, so I've tried to make it as incremental as possible!

You may wonder, but why make your own? Part of it is that no SSR system ones works with my core set of dependencies: React, Wouter, StyleX, Relay, Fastify with Vite. By baking those assumptions into the server, then our codebase barely needs to change when comparing the server vs client runtimes.

“why wouldn’t the internet archive be using the latest php” probably the same reason my sonos speakers are like a decade old, they get the job done and would expensive and laborious to update and i am not a billion dollar company

Me vibecoding: Amazing, the possibilities are endless. Other people vibecoding: Ew, look at that sloppity slop slop.

We've updated the @puzzmo.com streak system today, now a streak will self-heal in three days. So, if you had a max of 31, take a week off, then do three days in a row and you're back up to 34.

400+ concurrents on notsolitaire.com - pretty wild to see so many folks playing. P.s. you can change your avatar by clicking on an emoji from an achievement you've unlocked.

I am at the Huddersfield international crisp festival (at the sportsman) - I will update you all on my crisps. Starting with Doctor Salas's Extremely Spicy Habanero Can confirm they are damn hot

Will you be in NYC on October 19th? (Possibly for RevenueCat's App Growth Annual. 😸) Well I'll be hosting a hackathon at Pursuit's headquarters, and the theme is building for NYC! We'll have teams of pros and builders from our program making cool products using NYC's open APIs.

New blog post: On realising I need to evaluate my engineering principles in a post-LLM world This year, I've come to understand that the values (which have paid off incredible dividends) for the last decade aren't as applicable today as they were blog.puzzmo.com/posts/2026/0...

Welcome back to the week, for folks who might have missed it. I've been working on allowing 3rd party games on @puzzmo.com this year and we're opening the doors just an inch to test the waters for this week bsky.app/profile/stfj...

For almost a year the largest project I have been working on is building support for non-Puzzmo games on @puzzmo.com Ribbit was built in 90% of that system, and Hue Complete Me was 100% in it. A month ago I ported the Crossword to it. Got a game? We're exploring opening up bsky.app/profile/stfj...

The folks I've had chance to work with from that team were so smart, thorough and diligent about their work. I don't doubt they're gonna be figuring out what the next thing is for working and interacting with code + agents + whatever for the next decade.

@robdubbin.bsky.social My dude, I got the bag! Thank you so much! I've got a present for you coming to puzzmo hq (hopefully this week) which I can leave there either till next xword con or can get left with zach/Brooke too so cool!

Excited that TypeScript will finally support module types based on import attributes! Bundlers and frameworks can now provide accurate types for custom imports:

I've 1.0.0'd my Danger JS re-write today: Risk If you use Danger in GitHub + GitHub Actions then it should be a simple dependency switch and you'd end up with substantially less moving parts I've been using it daily in Puzzmo for 6 months with no issues npmx.dev/package/risk

Shipped the first version of Danger JS to use trusted publishing. For the longest time Danger operated on the Moya community guidelines (if you get a PR merged, we'll offer you org access) which meant if GitHub write access was what mattered, then we had over 200 people who could make deploys!

Not great! So, I previously gated deploys by my computer etc Now, I have it so that only org admins can create tags and a CODEOWNERS for workflows. Deploys then run off the tags.
