A basic intro for myself: I'm an IT engineer, crazy cat person, motorcycle road racer and VRRP enthusiast. For those just arriving, welcome to BSKY!

It is a weird feeling to sit and watch my access to things get ripped out in realtime on a collection of systems I've spent 27 years building.

So... good morning, pleasant weather forecast and oh btw a massive pair of PHP CVEs just dropped so... yeah, if you're a PHP user, this is a no sleep, turn exposed php using services off until you patch morning. Patch is out, proof of concepts are out there, expect this to get botted fast.

The snowball starts to form.

Whoa: Third Circuit affirms “grant of summary judgment in favor of Thompson Reuters for copyright infringement and rejecting the fair use defense of ROSS Intelligence in its use of Westlaw headnotes in memos used to train its AI model.” chatgptiseatingtheworld.substack.com/p/breaking-new…

The FUCK Discord? This is the definition of BAD UI, there is no way to claim this isn't by accident.

This is where I found it. NOTE NOTE NOTE you must got to "Managed Sponsored Content", click the dropdown, and make sure that "Real Money Gambling" is _in_ the box. It's a blacklist, not a whitelist. A really fucking dark pattern by Discord there.

There needs to be repercussions for bullshit DMCA claims, and Youtube needs to also have some risk for blindly just AI processing this stuff.

I have 24 hours to dispute 100 dmca takedowns or we lose @gamechops.com

And there's the other shoe finally dropping at work. That ends that year+ long speculation and confirms my initial reading of tea leaves was dead nuts accurate.

An update: Jeremy and Birdy went to a new home Saturday, Scout is staying. She informed us this morning that she shall not be contained by scaling the theoretically kitten proofed child gate once we opened the door. So... will be working in the living room today to keep an eye on her.

Three reasons while all my plans for this month went sideways: 1) Scout 2) Jeremy 3) Birdy

Forcing the use of AI where it's not needed, lovely.

-IMPORTANT- Gumroad has recently updated their website with the intention of phasing out the ability to manually edit your storefront and allowing you to only edit your storefront via AI agents. I will be dropping gumroad support entirely in the near future. More to come as I sort things out.

Turn it off, be vocal about doing so. Metrics backed by directly observable social media activity have even more weight.

"If it was opt in, no one would opt in." "Putting an AI disclosure on our game will deter people from buying it." If you know people don't want it then don't fucking use it.

Flicking the toggle, good. Actively promoting your stance, better! I support this idea!

Stuff like this should always be OPT IN, not defaulting to on, no need to assist Twitch in replacing streamers with generative content. (Yeah, I got my wires crossed on my original repost, fixed now.)

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...

One week on. Kittens 5 weeks, perfectly healthy. Vet Tuesday, dewormer for everyone and eyedrops for Scout. Doing so good, gaining weight. Have mostly figured out real food, bigger litterbox, everybody is happy and purring and adventurous. 🥰 No more 4AM wakeup either, which is real nice.

Whoever it was that dumped these three precious little nuggets of fur and purrs and YELLING at the town transfer station yesterday, may you suffer the same fate, somehow, that they would have if we had not had to go down to the metal pile and heard the panicked miaous. Asshole. There are shelters.

Go to the dump to find space in the house and... come back with kittens? Is that how that's supposed to work?

I will happily attend their TED Talk on this one.

Isekai as a genre is exploding in popularity because it appeals to a universal desire to get hit by a truck rather than live in the 21st century.

My gentle Gizmo would never be so rude... except when he is...

Camille/Gen@purplecat771.bsky.social

Gizmo says "Happy #Caturday. Now where is my morning snackumz?"

I'm amazed at how many people are making them that all look the same and think "This is great!". Instant turn off for me. Give me a bad cell phone pic of something you scrawled in crayon on torn cardboard and I'll be much more interested in what you're trying to communicate.

Just pulled the data from my Solo 2 for yesterday's fun day at the track... and am totally geeking out at all the detail and how much I can read into my riding as a result. That slow lap, right there, totally 'cause the air temp went up 1F while I was rounding T3... honest! :P

I am *not* a fabricator. Three iterations of trying to mount that lap timer to my bike as neatly as possible without blocking something else while still being easy to use, remove and viable cable clearance.

Spent the day on the bike with my wife, and got an unexpected bonus at the first stop of charity ride alongs in fast cars at the track. Ended the day with ice cream and a nice ride home, butt is tired, brain not quite fried, was good day.

Heyo, anyone who reads this: Please be aware, there's an attack going around #Discord, where one of your friends will ping you out of the blue asking you to play modded #Minecraft for "a friend's birthday" or whatever. The mods will have an infostealer payload and yoink your accounts. Be safe!

For @aftermath.site, the Steam Machine costs too much money because of greedy freaks. But a community has formed around optimizing a low budget alternative made from failed PlayStation 5's that got turned into crypto mining cards and then resold as garbage. aftermath.site/bc250-steam-...

aftermath.siteBless The BC250, The Budget E-waste Steam Machine AlternativeThe Steam Machine is expensive due to evil freaks. Let's make a miracle computer out of garbage.

Purchased an AMD BC-250 crypto mining card and I’m gonna install Bazzite on that sucker for @aftermath.site. Literally just making a steam machine out of a PS5 APU. Please support the site if you like funding this stuff.

Hey so this new KOSA/KIDS Act proposal has a little note in it that creates a whole new special Trump-appointed team to regulate the internet. So no more Congress votes. No more checks & balances. Just whoever the president picks to decide the future of YOUR internet. You aren’t mad enough.

NEWS: The leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee will unveil a bipartisan deal Monday on guardrails for protecting kids against online harms, including a long-sought compromise on the Kids Online Safety Act. @benbrodydc.bsky.social has the details: punchbowl.news/article/tech...

Home, absolutely exhausted, but Gizmo is happy to see me. Went from 1:22s at the end of last year, to 23's to start this season, down to 1:20.1 in pre-qual and consistent 20.6's today, gains, fastest I've ever been on the MT but... not where I want to be.

I'm hitting a mental wall at 1:20 that I just can't seem to break, same wall I ran up against back in 2018 when I last was trying to take things serious, not sure how to get past it yet.

The marker revolution. Whenevir you are temptid to create a holidaye carde, invitacioun, etc wyth Gen AI: do not. Ynstead, use a trusty bolde marker on playne papir. Make it as simple as possible. Stick! figures! Everyone will knowe you made it. Everyone will knowe it ys yours. We win wyth markers.

Well, that is one way to build an inline surge suppressor... points awarded for the housing being actually moisture tight though. One little 6in long wrap of electrical tape as the only insulation over those three solder taps seems sketchy to me.
