Speaking publicly about Elixir stuff (conference talks + podcasts) has gotten me every job I've had since 2020. (And that first one was a 50% pay bump.) I interview pretty poorly, but having been seen being smart in public got me the foot in the door I needed to prove I could do the work.

Devs who write about their work/company; talk at conferences - lots of companies in the past used to not care much about this and not value it the least. Feels like the tide is changing: people who do this but are not valued get hunted down by companies who understand this value

Via @josevalim.bsky.social: "We extracted Nimble ZTA (Zero Trust Auth) from Livebook as a separate package for Plug/Phoenix [...] to add auth to an internal app when your identity management and deployments are on the same platform (GCP/Cloudflare/etc)" dashbit.co/blog/zero-tr... #ElixirLang

dashbit.coZero Trust Auth for Plug/Phoenix apps is here - Dashbit BlogWe have just released `nimble_zta`, a library that allows developers to add Zero Trust Auth (ZTA) to their Plug/Phoenix web apps

`mix format —migrate` helped make my recent Phoenix upgrade a minutes-long, joyful experience. A couple deprecation fixes later, the code was ready for review. 🔥🦅🔥🦅🔥🦅 #elixirlang

Hey #ElixirLang friends, I'm looking for a new job! - Staff or Senior level - 10 years of @elixir-lang.org . I can also do Rust and I'm eager to learn. - Pref fully remote or hybrid in the Toronto region. - You can find my projects, contributions, and talks at leandro.io #MyElixirStatus

I’m one chapter into Machine Learning in Elixir, feeling enthusiastic about the road ahead! The pacing is just right, and the metaphors are apt. This reminds me how Elixir in Action and a bunch of conf talks put me on a great course for unimaginable growth. pragprog.com/titles/smeli... #elixiang

Maybe the most amazing thing about Elixir to me pattern matching on binaries. Parsing a WAV file is almost as simple as writing down the file spec verbatim - look at this! #ElixirLang

Interesting: whenever I read an "I've replaced N SaaS services with AI, in a day, saving $$$ per year, SaaS is dead" post, both are true: 1. The SaaS "replaced" is not named 2. The "AI replacing it" is not shown (no code, no specifics, no nothing) Be careful what you believe

Funny that the Elixir gang so far is aiming much much lower. Maybe the better question would be what status symbol we would strive for as Elixiristas. 🤔

Cheers! Get that feather in your cap!

Woo! First PR accepted/merged into Phoenix LiveView! github.com/phoenixframe... Just a documentation change but a fun process understanding the thinking behind maintaining such an amazing core part of the #ElixirLang ecosystem.

I wrote a new article exploring how set-theoretic types (the foundation of Elixir's type system) could address how many statically typed languages do not allow libraries to evolve their data definitions in a backwards compatible manner: dashbit.co/blog/data-ev... - be warned, it is a long one.

The Elixir shirts on pre-order is up til March. Make sure you get in there. It supports my wife's continuous efforts to enable my open source work. But mostly it's fun. I've ordered stickers so expect an Elixir sticker with every Elixir shirt ✨ https://oswag.org/b/elixir-shirt-preorder #elixirlang

Good thread!

Hey #ElixirLang community: I might be building something SaaSy greenfield soon. I'm super excited to start a new LiveView project after 1.0. What are the things that have emerged recently that you wish you had when you started your project? I'm most excited to try out sqlite with LiteFS and SaladUI.
