Disabling all certificate checking in my client code so nobody uses the bad intermediary certs to own me

The details are now public, as of two hours ago. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi... The secret P-384 keys for these intermediate CAs are all zeros except the last 8 bits. All not-updated software can be MITM'ed now. IOT boxes that can't or don't update are now trivially MITM'able forever.

If you make HTTPS requests or have other TLS clients and care about MITM attacks, you need to update today. If you run Go: go get go@1.27.3 If you run Homebrew: brew update brew install ca-certificates If you run Linux, maybe stay off the internet for now.

This benchmark got worse the more people looked into it. He basically said the one-shotted everything, but what he actually did was very different. The Rust iteration got way more work. And the first version of Elixir was faster than the first version of Rust 😂

this guy is a fucking dreadful engineer

Picking up music as a hobby has mostly relieved the existential dread of losing "programmer" as a creative identity. So code is going to be done by machines now, like weaving or books. Ok! I can still be creative. I can still learn and grow.

We have officially left the “hand transcribed by monks” era of software.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

If you use a Logitech mouse and, like me, you don't love the official LogiOptions+, here is a good open-source alternative. openlogi.org I would suggest uninstalling LogiOption+ and its services agent first. That will make your life easier migrating from one to the other. #logitech #mxmaster

openlogi.orgOpenLogiA native, local-first alternative to Logitech Options+, written in Rust. Remap buttons, drive DPI and SmartShift over HID++ — no account, no telemetry.

I found that after ignoring 99% of online discourse about technology my sanity has improved. It's sad because I grew up on an internet where you learned something useful on the regular(except for elitist assholes), now it's pure shilling, false claims, and dogma around millionaire charlatans.

Friendly reminder that these things aren't impacted by closing the Strait of Hormuz so maybe, just maybe, we should implement them to avoid being impacted by future conflicts: -Solar panels -Wind turbines -Battery storage -Electric vehicles -Bicycles -Natural fertilizers -Electric heat pumps

part of why I don't like AI is bc it's so often the antithesis of caring for the little things, the appreciation of the mundane, of seeing beauty where others haven't yet been able to, and seeking genuine fundamental understanding all in the name of "get product faster" I find it so disheartening

PSA (especially to journalists): It’s not a “rogue AI” when a badly made security harness executes scripts fed to it by statistical text generation—it’s just humans making and/or using broken software.
