Vol. 4. 🤎

Maybe my favourite Irish album of all time. Produced by the late Donal Lunny, who also played guitar, bouzouki, & bodhrán. The great Kevin Burke on fiddle. The album was also released on Donal's record label, Mulligan. 5/ Andy Irvine/Paul Brady #76From76

Getting breezy again. But, it's great to be out & about.

Described as a "missing link" between pub rock and punk rock....it's fast, frantic, & fabulous. 3 stonking covers, incl. an incandescent The Kids Are Alright. 31:26, no messing. 4/ Eddie And The Hot Rods - Teenage Depression #76From76

On Feb 1st 1975, Miles & band played 2 shows in Osaka, the afternoon show became Agharta, the evening show became Pangaea. Mellow psychedelic jazz funk, anyone? Mtume, Foster & Henderson lay down mad grooves, Pete Cosey brings the colour. Magnificent. 3/ Miles Davis - Pangaea #76From76

Some help from BlueSky hive mind please - a kind chap called Pearse at the excellent #MarkOlson gig at the #Sunflower in Belfast today. I’d left my wallet at home & hearing this he pressed €20 into my hand to buy a CD. I snapped bank details but it is illegible. If anyone knows him … get in touch!

In 1989, when I had feet in the prog and indie camps, I saw a cassette of this in a £2.99 bargain bin. At that price, I had nothing to lose... A big smile of a record. Just what I needed. 2/ Electric Light Orchestra - A New World Record #76From76

Ok, the evenings are drawing in, & I need a project. #76From76 is go. Like every year, great records everywhere. Will play each one, taken from a list of 100. Up first, a Joni masterpiece, Jaco Pastorius shines. 1/ Joni Mitchell - Hejira

😐

2nd play. Wow.

I'm finally grown up enough to stop being sniffly about Dire Straits. Brothers in Arms is a masterpiece. There, you heard it.

Good morning all! Horn rock GODS. They were brilliant. #Chicago #MusicSky

"Oh, how the ghost of you clings! These foolish things remind me of you..." ❤️

And the nurse will tell you lies Of a kingdom beyond the skies But I am lost within this half-world It hardly seems to matter now.....

Speaking of compilations.....up next. ❤️

First one of these I've been arsed doing. Comps and greteats hits are, erm, great! Very boy-centric but I was 13-18, what you gonna do?

Dromedary rock.

FB vinyl pages continue to amuse, this time it's the clutching of pearls over including comps in the 9 albums list. Comps open doors, & sometimes a good comp is all you need. These nine were massive for me. #ninealbums #compilations #MusicSky

Good morning all. Storm Boelo howling outside. But, there's coffee & Elvis. ❤️

THE transition. It's all about THE transition. #DonalLunnyRIP

"He must have really hurt you To make those pretty eyes look so blue" ❤️

Queen - Night at the Opera, one of those albums everyone should own a copy of #vinyl #vinylcommunity #nowplaying #nowspinning

Tunes taken from the musical based on Noël Coward's "Blithe Spirit". This is very easy on the ear. Lovely. "Production supervised by Noël Coward"

Dónal Lunny has passed away. In terms of Irish music, he was the fulcrum. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. This is one of my favourite as Gaeilge tunes. Donal on vocals & bouzouki, featuring Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh & the late Danny Thompson. #DonalLunnyRIP youtu.be/tmfmLxsVlzk?...

Another one that's been here for years & years. I think this is the first play. I loved "Grace", not sure why I've never played it. Good morning all.

My forever Freddie:

At times this album is too much for a sad soul to bear, but it's remarkable. "I have read all your letters I know what you contain I have dreamt your dreams My head My head is haunted I will scream again "I am perfectly sane" "I am perfectly sane" But I am The invisible man I am The invisible man"

Indispensable. ❤️

"I've been uptight and made a mess But I'll clean it up myself, I guess Oh, the sweet smell of success Handle me with care" ❤️ The sound of autumn 1988....😳

Linda's first for Asylum Records. Hello all. ❤️

A music video director on Word In Your Ear, discussing Ian Dury's magnificent Wake Up And Make Love With Me, in particular the synth(Moog) solo, calling it unlikely as it was released during punk's peak, as unlikely as "Keith Emerson having a hit in the middle of punk". Wake up, man. #2, 1977.

From 1994, the uneven but often beguiling "Carnival Of Light". Never the greatest lyricists, there's doggerel on here that would make William McGonagall blush. But, musically there's a lot to love.

The heady & scuzzy sounds of 1990. ❤️

From 2024, the splendid "Interplay" from Ride. Back in Dublin next year. Woop.

Jeff's debut solo album from 1990. It's a lovely thing. Features George Harrison & Richard Tandy.

Share a movie that is ridiculously dopey, but you absolutely love it 🖤

We are condemned To make The same mistakes Over and over and over and over And over and over again..... ❤️

And the men who shop for groceries Must be the first to start To bring the fruits and vegetables Closer to the cart The pot pies and the orange juice The crackers and pop tarts The frozen foods of destiny Closer to the cart! Closer to the CART!!!! Yea! RS

A grand evening beckons. Howdy all.
