So I just saw The Invisible Woman (1940) after years of everyone acting like it was this awful film. Yeah it's a spin-off that jumps genres from horror to screwball comedy but honestly I thought it was a delightful, funny movie. What's wrong with you all!?!

Now, all within reading distance know the smell of serious loser stink. This is the GOP personified; corrupt, arrogant, sexist, and racist.

Folks have a lot of pet peeves with movies these days, but my biggest one is probably that an absurd number of score composers are afraid of melody. I should be walking out of a theater humming your lietmotifs, you cowards, not feeling vaguely unsettled by ambient atonal strings

Just a reminder that patriotism isn't holding a bible and wrapping yourself in the flag while you violate the Constitution and plunder the country. Happy 4th of July, stay cool and safe!!

I think the reason the Reflecting Pool is getting so much reaction is because it's a tangible metaphor for all the failures of this regime. It's a physical manifestation of toxicity, vanity, cost, error, and assigning blame.

I think Terry Gilliam might have a burner account on Bluesky.

Spielberg is one of patriarchy's most skilled propagandists. In the 70s, he reinserted fatherhood and its problems as the central engine of Hollywood story telling. As such his films creep me out and I try to avoid them.

Well it’s hardly worth it but… BOOOOO!!!!

Man, I fall down the weirdest holes at like 3am (I don’t care how that sounds I’m going with that phrasing). Tonight‘s random rediscovery Elmer‘s Dragon that lead into discovery there’s an adaptation on Netflix by the same people who did Secret of the Kells and Song of the Sea. But also (1/3)

there’s an anime movie adaptation from the 90s directed by one of the directors of Little Nemo Adventures in Slumberland that’s practically lost media. Last week it was I finally found some background music that was used in Bravo’s 100 Scariest Movie Moments which I knew had to come from a (2/3)

music library of some sort because I almost remember some random episodes of South Park used some of the same cues. I actually was hoping to find it earlier last year when I was putting together the temp score for my most recent film, The EX-orcism. (3/3)

AI defenders really only have two modes, don’t they? “HA HA SUCK IT YOU CANT TELL MY SLOP FROM AN ORIGINAL DA VINCI, YOU ARTISTS WILL HAVE TO GET REAL JOBS IN THE MINES!!” And “(sniffle sob) why… why do you hate us (blows nose) i now understand racism because this is slopophobia 😭”

Feel like this took a little longer than it should have but hey I glad it happened.

The reason why I can't take the obnoxious "cinema is dying" BS seriously is because I've been hearing it non-stop from film snobs for as long as I've been on the internet. Cinema isn't going anywhere.
