Ridley Scott said Alien: Romulus "was OK," so he's returning to the Alien franchise because it "needs some help." https://bit.ly/4xu5czC

Look, I'm in the minority here, but Romulus was mid at best and had basically no bones. It's a gorgeous film, bit its about as deep as a thimble. Prometheus and Civenant may have been weird, but damn they are ambitious

Romulus was designed around four really good set pieces and the script (outside of the first ten minutes on the colony) squandered everything outside of those set pieces

Yes. It was carried by one strong performance and a bunch of unmemorable side characters who map almost comically on slasher tropes. Exactly one character reels genuine, and he's a damn robot!

I'll agree that Prometheus was at least a bold and thought provoking take on the lore, but dude.....both that and Covenant had some of the dumbest human scientists EVER put to film lol

Romulus was the best in the franchise since Aliens. It did suffer from weak side characters but it paid tribute to the world, timeline, and aesthetic in a way the others ignored. It offered an explanation to the rapid growth of the Alien in the 1st film without betraying the established lifecycle.

I love Ridley Scott. Alien and Blade Runner are 2 of the best science fiction movies ever made. That being said, I'd much rather see another Alien film from Fede Alvarez than Ridley Scott

It's better than getting nothing right. Covenant was horrendous. Prometheus made no sense. Ridley hasn't made a good movie in well over a decade. The franchise needs help, but not from him.

You're entitled to your opinion, but ill maintain that Covenant and Prometheus got more right than they did wrong -- they're just interested in different things than every movie since Alien. The series lost its subtlety and mystery. Prometheus was daring and was actually trying to explore what made

I want films where the crew science the shit out of a bad situation. Not shit scientists making a situation worse Hell, in Prometheues I’m not sure anyone made a good decision, especially the eye roll visible from space when Charlize tried to outrun a crashing spaceship and it looney tuned her ass
