Happy Pride Month. If you're a gay man, please remember your power. People often think that gay men are innately fashionable, which means if you wear some stupid shit for long enough, straight people, including homophobes, will copy you and then you can laugh at them.

@wmatagm.bsky.social Can WMATA revisit its BL/YL closures for Crystal City construction over Juneteenth (Jun 19) and Capital Pride weekend (Jun 20-21)? Major weekend for big communities in the DC metro area—closing off half the virginia routes feels like real bad timing. 3 day closure is worse.

My friend just said "Shorter Sotomayor: 'Daniel Webster called you a fucking idiot. Thoughts?'" That's the best description available for what's happening here. :)

"If you take away one key fact from this presentation," researcher Tracy Hadden Loh told City Council on Tuesday, "I would ask that it be that the counties of Northern Virginia and the city of Alexandria produce almost 50% of the state of Virginia's GDP." www.alexandriabrief.com/brookings-ec...

@wmata.com for the crystal city closures, are the trains running through the station with passengers, not stopping and continuing south of the station, or are they offloading passengers and turning around before Crystal city when it’s closed?

please lawd (or @wmata.com) favor YL then GR at l’enfant for northbound trains so passengers can continue their journeys.. and ofc GR then YL southbound when turning back trains at Mount Vernon

@nytimes.com in the Daily episode about the dismissed Comey/James indictment, y’all presented the arguments that Jack Smith was improperly appointed and Lindsey Halligan was improperly appointed as roughly equivalent in their strength and correctness. That true? That the intent?

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged. Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear— it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife.bsky.social

This SUV in the bike lane a few minutes after the tow. Drivers won’t respect ped/bike space without enforcement. To help, the county should consider painting ‘no stopping’ or similar markings where the bike lanes cross loading dock driveways. Maybe that’s already the plan…

Crystal Dr is getting re-striped with a protected bike lane now—hugely needed. Previously a dangerous slog with cars constantly zooming into the bike lane and parking there.

They were supposed to be deporting “gang members” and “criminals.” So far, they have kidnapped people working their day jobs and folks lawfully showing up for their immigration court appearances… It was always a lie.
