After a difficult legal fight, Uncle Lou has chosen to accept deportation to Jamaica. It aches, losing such a foundational member of our community. Losing a neighbor. Uncle Lou's Entertainment Hall will open its doors for the final time on June 13th. Thank you for everything, Lou. We miss you.

I can't imagine how hard the decision was to make but Uncle Lou has made the unfortunate yet entirely understandable decision to not fight the deportation order and return to Jamaica. A week ago, Cleon Williams, known to much of Florida's DIY music scene as Uncle Lou, was detained by ICE. Uncle Lou’s Entertainment Hall is a dingy little dive bar on Mills Avenue in downtown Orlando, and it has been home to some of the fondest memories of my life.
