@cjbill.bsky.social This is the Lithospermum I was talking about. Ridiculous process and very expensive purple cloth. The one I am growing is Aegonychon purpureocaeruleum, the purple gromwell. It has purple/blue flowers, we shall see about the roots. 1/2 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithosp...

This is the one used in Europe as a dye and medicine. Disappointingly white flowers. I couldn't find plants of this or the Japanese one for sale in the UK when I was looking last. 2/2 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithosp...
Seed is now available, still no plants in stock. 3/3 www.growwilder.co.uk/product/comm...
@cjbill.bsky.social was asking about this article I wrote. Dye stuff at the end. I tried oxidising and then reducing it like with indigo but that did not work. I still have a small bag of berries in the freezer that Jo can have. pattheplants.blogspot.com/2018/10/kusa...
Just seeing if this video from tumblr posts or just gives a link. Unfortunately, I do not know the artist.

The BBC were also involved in the dog-pile demanded by a racist, right-wing sheep biter. All media should be investigated, but the Telegraph should be shut down and its "journalists" imprisoned as a priority. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/de...
11 days ago Jason Arday resigned, saying he was at his limits. The press wrote 188 more articles. 9 days later Jason Arday was found dead. Enough is enough: Demand an urgent inquiry into the role the media had on his death: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/de...

I have uploaded some neat but unfinished notes from 16 years of reading about the human uses of the asclepiads. From delicious vegetables to blue dyes to rival indigo, deadly poisons to medicines traded world-wide. And string. 1/2 archive.org/search?query...
I have seen that camera valued at $9,000. The information it contains is priceless.
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

The Met Office is currently looking for people to suggest up to 5 names for storms... It would be great if thousands all suggested the same 5 names (in alphabetical order as that's how storm names appear): BigOil, BP, Equinor, Exxon, Shell. www.metoffice.gov.uk/forms/name-o...

@rebeccawatson.bsky.social Have you seen this hilarious/sad story of a French mayor and a fortune-teller who is good at impressions? It is worth embezzling public funds for a really good necromancer, I suppose. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Kewa salsoloides (Kewaceae) grown under lights in Manchester, UK. Anybody else grown these (apart from Kew Gardens obviously)? 2½ petals, very odd. Seed from Ladysmith, South Africa. More photos and info (and Kewa bowkeriana) in my blog article: pattheplants.blogspot.com/2024/01/kewa... #flower
You are up to date.
