Companies like Amazon profited from our communities while giving far too little back. Scottish Greens would tax billionaire online retailers and use the money raised to support small businesses on our high streets.

Yet another dismaying example of the Scottish Government failing to turn its stated policy into action. With the majority of Parliament, the SNP voted for boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel and companies complicit in occupation. This must become reality. Well done ASLEF and RMT ✊

Jackdaw won't bring down bills or create many jobs. But it will leave us even more dependent on volatile global gas markets, and worsen the climate chaos we already see around us. It's shocking that no other party is willing to stand up for our planet against the greed of oil and gas companies.

This is chilling. Direct links between the so-called "mainstream" of the political right, and the most depraved far right, willing to arrange murder for hire. This reminder of the importance of courageous investigative journalism comes in the same week as yet more cuts were announced by the BBC.

Labour's approval of the Jackdaw gas field won't cut household energy bills or improve energy security. We need investment in cheap, green renewables to create jobs and cut our bills.

Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative@fossiltreaty.bsky.social

“The Fossil Fuel Treaty is not just a plan—it’s a lifeline,” said Mayor @mayorofgm.bsky.social Burnham, joining Massive Attack to endorse the call just before a sold-out show in Manchester on #WorldEnvironmentDay2025. This is the moment music, activism, and leadership united for climate justice.

If this was being done by a climate-denying Tory or Reform government, the condemnation would be resounding. It's beyond dismaying that a Labour Government can approve this decision and an SNP one can cheer it on. Neither is doing what it takes to make a sustainable future possible.

The net zero transition has the potential to create up to 40,000 more energy jobs than will be lost, but leaving it to market forces will fail workers. We need a proactive green industrial strategy backed by effective labour market planning. www.futureeconomy.scot/publications...

Doubling down on an approach of continued exploration and production in an ultra mature basin that’s haemorrhaging jobs - despite licences being issued - under the guise of long term job security is fundamentally disingenuous and will fail workers and communities.

Some early morning reading for the Energy Minister #Jackdaw #Rosebank👇

The chance to keep global warming below 1.5°C with no overshoot is gone. But urgent action can still limit the overshoot and bring warming back to 1.5°C by 2100. Current policies, however, put the 🌎 on course for up to 2.8°C this century. New #EmissionsGap Report: https://ow.ly/SNHX50ZZz8l

🚨 BREAKING: The UK Labour Government have approved the Jackdaw gas field. This a devastating betrayal of future generations. Jackdaw will make the UK even more dependent on the global gas market. This will do nothing to lower household energy bills and it is dishonest to pretend that it will.

The first Reform MSP has fallen. Amanda Bland has resigned from Reform to sit as an independent. There are just 16 Reform MSPs remaining. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Even as someone who quit X quite a while back, I recognise that this is a decision for each person and organisation to make on their own terms. So I welcome this decision, which has been a long time coming, but I won't judge anyone who reaches a different decision for themselves.

I don't want those of us who see how dangerous the platform has become to point fingers and blame each other for how each individual or organisation responds. The critical thing that's needed - and woefully missing - is action by Government and regulators.

Much of the behaviour X is allowing, actively cultivating and even paying for would be illegal if it was done face to face in the real world. Similar standards should apply. If platform owners can't be trusted to apply them, then the public must be protected, and only Government action can do that.

I understand and respect the decision of those who point out that the platform still reaches people who need to hear positive progressive voices, or that leaving the space for extremists alone to occupy is wrong. Maybe they're right; maybe leaving won't achieve anything on its own.

But for me, this argument feels like dealing with an open sewer running through your neighbourhood by occasionally pouring in a few glasses of fresh water. That won't solve the problem either.

For me, the final decision was a personal act of self care. There came a point when my only experience of the platform was seeing a torrent of hateful and abusive behaviour, directed at me and at other people I care about and have solidarity with. i wasn't willing to keep exposing myself to that.

Glasgow is seeing a dramatic rise in racist incidents, from physical attacks to racist patrols in streets. The rise of emboldened racists needs to be taken seriously, but protests like this show that the majority of Glaswegians will still not accept racism in their city. Keep fighting back ✊🏾
