Japan's terrifying mannequin sitcom OH! Mikey is getting a screening and exhibition at SPACE PART 3 by PARCO in Shibuya starting November 3. Fan-favorite episodes will be shown, while the exhibit will feature actual mannequins from the series. Visitors also receive a Mikey mask!

1990s sci-fi action pics ZEIRAM and ZEIRAM 2 are getting a special screening event on 11/29 at Shin Bungeiza in Ikebukuro, #Tokyo, celebrating the original film’s 35th anniversary. Organizers are promising new merch and other surprises.

Not on my 2026 bingo card: Legendary actor Tetsuro Tamba's totally baffling quasi-religious cult film The Great Spirit World: What Happens When You Die is getting a 4K remaster that will screen as part of the Tokyo International Film Festival on 10/27. Takashi Miike will host a talk session after.

BEAMS BOY is teaming up with Licca-chan for a special doll celebrating BEAMS’ 50th anniversary. The ¥19,800 set gives Licca-chan an American Casual look with a striped shirt and denim overalls, plus miniature pieces from assorted brands. Need @wdavidmarx.bsky.social to tell me if the fit is legit

A pop-up in Shibuya is using generative AI to turn visitors into “Heisei gyaru.” Created with fashion magazine egg, the ¥600 photo booth offers surf gal, ganguro, egg gal, and hime gal styles, then turns your photo into a decorated magazine-cover-style image. Open through October 19.

As part of the promo, there will also be a double feature of both films at Shin Bungeiza in Ikebukuro on 11/28. Filmmaker Koichi Sakamoto (scheduled), sculptor Asao Goto, and film writer Keiji Yamasaki will join a post-screening talk. Sorry ladies, no Jimmie Walker or Mark Hamill!

Shibuya is stepping up Halloween lockdown again this year under the catchy new slogan “GOODBYE BAD HALLOWEEN.” Measures include 185 private security staff, a request for 62 nearby stores to suspend alcohol sales, traffic controls, Hachiko being covered, and expanded anti-litter patrols.
