GOTY X. Lumines Arise 9. Ball x Pit 8. Demonschool 7. The Roottrees Are Dead 6. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector 5. Many Nights a Whisper 4. And Roger 3. Hollow Knight: Silksong 2. Hades II 1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

3-1 is 'safe', but they are incredible games. HK:SS is genre all-timer. Hades II follows up and all-timer and becomes an all-timer in its own right (even if story a touch weaker). CO is likely Top 5 all timer for me. Yes there's some award fatigue around it right now, but it's something special.

Honourable mentions: Blade Chimera, Blue Prince, DK Bananza, Is This Seat Taken?, Kingdoms of the Dump, Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza, Pokรฉmon Legends Z-A, Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog, Wander Stars.

Order of 10-8 is tough. Demonschool has distinct flaws (pacing) and maybe not 'better' at delivering its intended experience compared to Lumines/BallxPit, but enjoying despite flaws. 6-4 pretty close, And Roger/Many Nights so hard to separate, tears at the end of AR swung it.

A simple and kind message today wishing me a happy holiday, from someone I probably haven't interacted with for close to 20 years back in my Gamespot community forum days. Lots of unexpected turns in two decades, but it's nice to reminisce about younger days simpler and happier.

2/3 through 2025, current top 10: 10. Word Play 9. Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog 8. Blade Chimera 7. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii 6. The Roottrees Are Dead 5. Hades II 4. Many Nights a Whisper 3. Donkey Kong Bananza 2. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector 1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

and Roger/Many Nights are a coin toss over which order. Silksong TBC, could drop behind Roger/Many Nights. Legends ZA will likely make the low-to-mid list based on first few hours. Top 2 surely a lock in that order. BallxPit seems fun but not sure it'll make it.

TBC. I feel like Hades II, Many Nights a Whisper could bump up a spot with Bananza dropping down. I feel like Legends ZA, Mina the Hollower and Lumines Arise are the most likely to break on to this list. Can't see anything unseating Clair Obscur.

Update: 10.Blade Chimera 9.Wander Stars 8.The Roottrees are Dead 7.Donkey Kong Bananza 6.Citizen Sleeper 2 5.and Roger 4.Many Nights a Whisper 3.Hollow Knight Silksong 2.Hades II 1.Clair Obscur Expedition 33

#Silksong is great, probably going to be second behind Clair Obscur for my GOTY. Mostly finding the difficulty on the right side of the rewarding/punishing scale. That said, a certain repeat boss on the Wish board is wearing thin on me.

@gamemakerstoolkit.com finally beat Legendary, on the last play after last refresh ๐Ÿ˜ X3 if no other modifiers for the entire run. Game is cool ๐Ÿ‘ Sitting on my Top 10 2025 so far. Embarrassed at how often I default to rude words (that I know aren't going to score ๐Ÿ˜‚) when I'm running out of time!

Seems like a great excuse to read my (very long) history of Chrono Trigger, the people who made it, and the people who played it. โ€œChrono Trigger is so many things. Itโ€™s whimsical and warm, tense, exhilarating, and thoughtful. Itโ€™s brisk and endlessly replayable. [Itโ€™s] timeless.โ€

After an appeal from my publisher, Balatro has been reclassified by PEGI from 18+ to 12+ This is a good step from PEGI - bringing nuance to their ratings criteria that used to be 18+ or nothing. I hope this change will allow developers to create without being unfairly punished

The freedom to pilfer, steal, and plunder creativity the UK is formally going to give to AI companies is absolutely staggering. If you're in the UK, take this stand right now. This is a fence that you can't put back up if it passes you, and it will kill the UK creative sector.

i don't think most people actually read or understood the article about Black Myth. people keep talking about it but hardly anyone, including a lot of my peers, seem to accurately be describing the actual contents of that article, and i think that frustrates me more than anything else.

Giving Thomas the Tank Engine a shot to see if my son likes it and I have no idea how crazy it looked. Just like static shots of trains with twisted facial expressions, smoke billowing out of a tunnel behind them while Ringo Starr talks about the complex feelings they're having.

You are up to date.
