Moyes’s Midfield Conundrum is Leaving Difference-Maker Hackney Out in the Cold: With Garner and Armstrong seemingly undroppable in the manager's eyes there doesn't appear to be a place for the new signing from Boro even though he makes a case for inclusion every time he takes the field

Has Moyes been dealt a bad hand by the owners? Yes. Is Moyes getting the best out of this squad? No. Stop-gap manager, stop-gap owners. Unchanged midtable drift till we get new owners & I'm not expecting a quick sale. Let's hope for a more positive performance on Thursday.

No surprise to see the better team dominate possession and chances. Shocking goal to concede. Pickford was out of position, missed the ball and christ knows what those defenders in the six yard box were doing.

During a debate held to discuss giving the RNLI the Freedom of the City, Portsmouth city councillors heard about the abuse that crew members had received in the city, including being confronted in pubs, yacht clubs & shops + two said their children had been bullied at school Reform UK opposed it.

Great stuff. Just waiting for George W. Bush to say something similar.

Barack Obama just delivered a blistering rebuke of Trump's actions against Ilhan Omar. This is worth reading in full.

I was 30 when we won the CW Cup. The prime of my football supporting life. Going home and away watching the best team in Europe. Then they took it all away from us. Never acknowledged it. Just destroyed the dreams of thousands of us. And they have the cheek to moan about anything.

A neutral would say a draw was a fdair result, but not winning that game showed why we're an upper midtable team. Chances missed, terrible ball retention, poor defending for both goals.

Lovely morning walking around Loch Ossian last week. Caught the Caledonian Sleeper for one stop to Corrour & walked around the loch. Loads of fabulous walking, munros & mountains all around. Back for coffee at Corrour Station House, before catching the train back to Rannoch & lunch at the Tearoom.

Lovely trip to the Perthshire Highlands last week, celebrating my wife's third birthday since her diagnosis and end of life plan.🙂🙂 We're keeping ourselves as fit and well as we can and making as many happy memories as we can. You can always choose how you play the cards life gives you!

Very interesting. Very, very true!

New from me on Political Sandbox: The Cult Are Not The Country Every time Farage or Trump is caught out, the cameras find the true believers and tell us nobody minds. We do. We're just never asked. https://politicalsandbox.substack.com/p/the-cult-are-not-the-country

The EPL & CEO Richard Masters has questions to be answered. Who remembers when Dame Caroline Dinenage MP told him 'you don't know what you're doing'?

And now we will see the Premier League's commitment to it's own rules, compliance, fairness and justice for all clubs. Given that EFC were given an immediately-applied points deduction, anything other than an astronomical points deduction & genuine financial penalties will be an utter disgrace.

This book by @iandunt.bsky.social has been on my to-read list for ages and it's a cracker. If you're interested in how Westminster really works, this is an excellent starting point. Best thing I can say is that it would have belonged on my politics degree reading list.... from 40-odd years ago!

Over the last few months these guys made me proud to be British: kind, practical, profoundly moral, a testament to this island. Now they're targeted by the very worst of us. I just gave them a bunch of money. You should too. Show those fascist clowns what's what. rnli.org/support-us/g...

While there was a lot not to like today, we created enough chances to win easily. Lovely to see Dibling show his talent. Hackney should be starting in that midfield every week.

Nice week working with broadcast professionals and civil servants on leading through change and wellbeing ends with a good walk around Loch an Eilean. Bouzouki, RAV Anima and Everton await for the weekend!
