It was kinda interesting being in high school on the tail end of this where everyone was socially liberal but there were like 2 out LGBT people total, there was a bit of a lag between social acceptance and people actually being out

Any queer culture writers who have written about this? I feel like there’s a very real difference between Gen Z and millennial queer culture and “I didn’t spend my formative years closeted” seems like one of the clear dividing lines.

- there is a web cam of it - it operated as a restaurant and beer garden - "one of the few undamaged monuments of the Hitler era" - "We're not going to leave a ruin there," Bavaria's interior ministry said, "I think we will be able to find a sensible solution." www.cbsnews.com/news/hitler-...

theres no way to use a headquarters designed to be romantic it as a museum. especially if its atop a hill. we should bring down almost all the plantation houses, preserving the quarters of those who were enslaved. maybe leave some to show the contrast

bummer of a post. analogizing the org to a u.s. primary is just... promote the org as a good thing not a locus of enemies to be defeated! nothing against recruiting new ppl to vote your candidates, but going negative as part of it is not helpful!

In a vibrant chapter, you experience ppl coming together, working on all sorts of projects, working through disagreements. Ive learned so much from idealogical opponents and my politics changed as a result. plz join, be curious and vote for who you want!

when i felt this way about Bush, it just led me to be bitter and passive during Obama. I was shocked that nothing happened and that no one seemed to care elites might choose impunity and the public might be disorganized enough for a critical mass to trust elites when they say justice isn't possible

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

I don't think accountability is a great organizing issue. but it's ok bc there are a lot of good organizing issues. things will be worse if they get away with it, and theres a chance that if we push on this issue that they won't. but politics doesn't end if we can't win on this issue

if there's an off button, id be tempted bc i want to buy a railroad and electrify it. If im honest, i think 10m is the threshold where having more power would be bad for me personally. so the reasonable options are setting it to 23 days or 37.

"umm a dollar that doubles every day is way more money overall" why the fuck should i care about that if i get a billion from the jump

ppl don't want to be uncool. I've made/done a couple of small things with ai. when ppl who don't use or like AI find out they seem mildly put off for a moment, but if they think the thing is cool they sort of just forget that thats how i made it. funny that this experience upsets these posters

Jesse Raub@jesseraub.online

it’s so funny how all the LLM boosters fret about people not liking software (?) that they post all day about it and normal people just drive by dunk on them asking “but what does it do” and never think about it again

My politics has changed so drastically, in ways that have little to do with policy, as a result of curiously engaging in an organization. People put off joining not bc of political disagreement but because their afraid of acting as a group rather than speaking as an individual.

"getting your car smogged" is an essential part of california car culture

Governor Gavin Newsom@governor.ca.gov

I’m proud to sign two bills celebrating California’s car culture, history, and the communities that have shaped it. Jay Leno’s Law makes it easier for Californians to preserve and enjoy their classic cars. And soon, a new specialty license plate will celebrate our state’s iconic lowrider heritage!

need to reduce my exposure to this genere of posts. genuine evil. They know what they're saying and doing. It's not about defending Biden. In relative terms it's small, but there are a lot of people who support this genocide. And the ones who prefer a humanitarian veneer are all on bsky

god i would love it so much if math hw /common core became a genre of bsky post

ex-Lethality Jane@lethalityjane.bsky.social

It's pretty common for people to dismiss parents who struggle helping their kids with common core math. But the problem is really a terminology thing. Your kid comes home with this worksheet and there's no explanation to the parent what "make a 10" means. And the kid can't remember!

nice thread. I don't think the constitution is a top 4 barrier to banning vertical video (tbc, Black isn't saying that it is) 1) Getting public support, 2) maintaining support, bc you need WC organization (mediating institutions, if you prefer) for that, 3) lawmakers unresponsive to pub opinion,

Robert Black@hurricanexyz.bsky.social

It's sort of a time/place/manner restriction, and I think it would satisfy the test. It's not content-based, it leaves ample alternate means BUT it's because you think this medium is uniquely powerful in a way that produces Wrongthink BUT it really does produce Wrongthink 😅

4) not actually sure if this is truly distinct from lack of WC organization, but politicians uninterested in politics the current court is too far gone to flex in response to multiple congresses pushing the issue, but i suspect a 5-4 court would

I've been getting less dogmatic about the need for superstructure reforms. still want them ofc but I'm pushing myself to focus on the primary reasons we don't accomplish policy goals (and superstructural reforms that would likely accompany them)

I see this as part of a transitional political program. Any substantial landlord class is going to be a powerful base of opposition to working class power and there is no need or moral justification for land as private property.

I'm thinking commercial RE as the primary target. I suspect they cause a lot of upward pressure on prices at the most productive SMB's. And prevent new entrents. my thinking is a bit underdeveloped here. Idk that SMB's would pass the savings along, but it would allow better labor protections

(the goal is neither state ownership or anarchic communes, and I don't think it's worthwhile now to try to sketch out exactly what it looks like, when it can only happen if there are ~100x the current number of organized workers and thus much better ideas in the discourse about how to do it)

You are up to date.
