In the '90s, when Tamagotchi first came out, I was the target demographic: a young girl who loved games and toys, but somehow I didn’t try it until now. I just wanted to keep it alive. Here's how it went: pentopixels.com/article/firs...

Just came across this amazing write up and looks like an amazing game!

Been playing this game for 20-30 minutes at a time, often right before bed, and it's been so nice and fun. Janet nails it here--every time I play it, I can SEE the possibility in every build and strategy and it's not disheartening the way RNG in roguelikes can be.

Roguelike deckbuilders are often variations of “number go up” but Dogpile deemphasizes that aspect in favor of “dog get big”. The result is worth your attention. Dogpile is different because it wants you to win. It manages to be easy while still being interesting. pentopixels.com/article/dogp...

The part about finishing for analysis nails how I often feel. It's rare that a game entirely changes my feelings at the ending, but it's often a vital payoff.

December is often about getting to the industry's most hyped games and beloved hidden gems, but this year I didn't want to lose myself amidst all the releases and recommendations. Here's My Pursuit to Finish the Games I Claim to Love. pentopixels.com/article/fini...

Possibly one of the best write ups about the events this past weekend. Janet never misses.

Comforting level design choices, a lovely and narratively insightful soundtrack, and a compelling story make South of Midnight an experience worth having despite its repetitive nature and lackluster combat. Our review: pentopixels.com/article/sout...

Flying feels good. Parrying feels parry-hater-friendly. And Morale Encounters provide some good challenges. Doom: The Dark Ages is shaping up to be another excellent entry in a classic franchise. Our hands-on preview: pentopixels.com/article/doom...

South of Midnight is good with the potential to be great. It’s infused with so much of what I love in video games: interesting mythical lore, exploration via platforming & magic, an incredible soundtrack, strong story, & a tight structure. pentopixels.com/article/sout...

👀 new preview dropping tomorrow.
