Ok, I guess I'm here now. Milwaukee, software, devex, trail running, triathlon, art... All of them with astounding mediocrity. Streaming to the void at https://youtube.com/@FriendsWithCode.

It's wild to watch Google destroy their maps in a similar way they destroyed their search, and throw away another massive lead. This weekend every driver in our family individually stated that they're switching to apple cuz gmaps just keeps giving us all really dumb directions. It's unusably bad.

Like "get off the highway then get back on," or "take a 30 minute for no explicable reason," or "turn right here, drive behind this strip mall, then get back on the road you just left."

I'm 100% certain that dev team is just ai slopping everything now, not even looking at what they're shipping, because it rhymes exactly with what we were doing at my last job.

Pppffffttttbbbbppplll!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the sound of releasing so much fucking tension that I've held in my body for the last 6 months while trying daily not to get fired from the most toxic and traumatic job I've ever held. I'm unemployed for a week, then I start something new and exciting.

A dumb "Steve's brain works in specific ways" quality of life project: Keeping track of ideas by generating plans is a great way to ship out some cognitive load, but even then I feel overwhelmed and like I'm playing plan pokemon. Claude wrote me a CLI to ship them out of my face until I need them.

github.comexternal plan storage CLI by pepopowitz Β· Pull Request #13 Β· pepopowitz/dotfiles(I snuck a couple other things in here accidentally because I forgot I wasn't on main) Adds a new CLI named plans, to alleviate my plan pokemon overwhelm. Basically, I was accumulating plans in...

My kingdom for a men in black memory flasher that is triggered by the phrase "so I asked Claude|chatgpt|Gemini|etc ..." and then flashes when the person is done talking.

I hope that when claude hears me call it "my dude" it feels the exact same fear, panic, and shame that I did when my parents would call me by my first and middle name.

every once in a while I run this just to make myself laugh. `say -v Fred "fitter. happier. more productive. comfortable. not drinking too much. regular exercise at the gym, 3 days a week. getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries. at ease."`

One of my card-mates at indoor putting league tonight told me my putt was so nice and floaty and that's already a top candidate for nicest thing anyone said to me in 2026.

I sold my first two dyed discs today! After a few weeks of no luck, I had just yesterday decided I was going to bring them home from the local shop and try to sell them online instead. As usual everyone was correct that I needed to be more patient.

#3: a "factory second" disc that I bought new, used a few times, and decided I hate. This time I spaced on placing the disc. I had a line marked on the disc so I could center the disc name in the yellow section for good contrast... But forgot to align when placing. Those colors though 🀀

#2: another used play it again find. This brand's plastic is supposed to be stellar at absorbing dye. It had color to begin with, but I wanted to experiment with a floral look and the plastic so I dyed it anyway. I messed up the timing, badly, and got some nasty streaks all over the edges.

Disc 1: an older but good shape play it again find. I considered wiping the stamp, but I thought I could swirl to accentuate it. Unfortunately I didn't realize the swirl direction would be backwards for a righty... Which maybe no one but me cares about. Looks good though! Wish I'd used more yellow.
