I think one of the more important skills you can have in 2026 is knowing when someone is performatively using progressive coded language to argue for something that is fundementally not progressive because they can claim a perceived moral high ground.

I was very fortunate the sports I played in elementary through college were all not considered to be viable career paths. Because I knew that Folkstyle Wrestling would never get me a paycheck, I was able to focus on the fact that I loved the sport, not that there was an expectation to go pro.

That's where a lot of the anxiety about trans athletes comes from. Parents think their kid is gonna make the WNBA or NWSL or make a bunch of NIL money or whatever, and they think trans athletes are "stealing" that from their kid. But that's the thing, most people don't, trans athletes or no.
