Denmark confirms an expanded, more permanent Danish and NATO military presence in and around Greenland, beginning today. Deployments span land, sea, and air, including protection of critical infrastructure, fighter jets, and naval operations. Sweden has committed forces; other NATO allies may follow

Last night, Robert Kennedy Jr gutted addiction & mental health grants, immediately cutting off access to overdose prevention, peer recovery services, & mental health support across the nation. This will cost lives. Congress must enact full-year legislation that protects this funding.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

I'm not sure you can get more marie antoinette than taking away food stamps before thanksgiving while you build a gold and marble dance hall so the other crooks can bring bribe you over a badly-cooked (argentinian) steak

I’m told ICE attacked us—despite us being off the street, courtesy of the state police—to create a spectacle because Kristi Noem was present today. Here’s some footage of her and her team on the roof of Broadview. Everything is content creation to these fascists.

Palestinian scholar and feminist Eman Abdelhadi arrested today in Chicago. Here she is calling shame on the cops and demanding they question their life choices.

My PhD student's NSF grant was terminated today. Her dissertation investigates why air pollution monitoring, metrics, and regulations don't properly capture the harms experienced by marginalized communities--esp in the most polluted Detroit neighborhoods. She and I are happy to talk with press etc.

NEW: Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has declared April 2025 as Confederate Heritage Month. He did so at the behest of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a neo-Confederate organization that espouses “Lost Cause” ideology, which whitewashes the role of slavery in the Civil War. 🧵

Anti-trans policies don't just hurt trans people. They hurt anyone who doesn't fit neatly into a pink box or a blue one. And they hurt the rest of us by creating pressure to ensure that we always fit neatly into our box.

Imagine trying to deport someone for their "expected beliefs"

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Wow. This is the full document submitted by Rubio against Mr. Khalil invoking INA 237(a)(4)(C). The standard in immigration court is extremely deferential; a judge must accept this so long as it is “facially reasonable and bona fide.” But this is so threadbare that it might not even satisfy that.

Altadena's Black community west of Lake Ave waited hours for evacuation orders during the Eaton Fire—long after flames consumed homes. 17 residents, many elderly or with mobility challenges, died unaware of the inferno. My latest on why they weren't warned: capitalbnews.org/eaton-fire-l...

capitalbnews.orgWhy Were Black Altadena Residents Not Warned to Evacuate in Time?Delayed evacuation orders and profit-driven utility failures robbed families of safety in a close-knit Black community, residents say.
