I really don’t understand true greed. If I was worth $1 trillion, you’d have to physically stop me from solving as many of the world’s problems as possible. Everyone would have a home, food on the table, proper healthcare, happiness. I just don’t get it.

Will Stancil the famous “why do people hate me so much” guy. Someone actual agrees with most of your hypothesis (yes, I know you believe your positions are just facts and not hypotheses) and you call their take “terrible.” You desperately need some introspection.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

This is a terrible vibecession explanation! Remember, it started in 2021.

This is very astute. The second worst part of the Trump era for me has actually been seeing how liberals behave especially when they have some form of power. They end up being as anti-victim as Trumpers do at times. And as willing to bully and harm people outside of their small subset of liberalism

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

You can and should block everyone being weird about Will Stancil because they’re all deeply toxic people and it’s just a matter of time before they’re weird about you

What’s insane is he’s one of the most normal republicans left. And yet he still isn’t a decent human.

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Georgia's Governor Kemp says he will NOT cancel the U.S. House elections that are already underway (May 19), unlike Louisiana's governor. So the 2026 map won't change. But that he may call a special session to change the map for 2028. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

100%. Added points if any of the Robert’s Six can end up in federal prison.

Micah@rincewind.run

there are going to be people who say, take a wait and see approach to how the Court will treat the next Dem president and those people are wrong, we know exactly how they will treat that person and it is the polar opposite of how they treat Trump strike at them immediately, first order of business

Antisemitism is structurally necessary for Elon Musk's politics, because he wants to brand himself as the insurgent populist fighting the elite, but as the world's wealthiest person, he needs a definition of "elite" that is not strictly rooted in wealth or corporate ownership.

I mean. Pretty much we now have conclusive proof that the failure to elect Harris is not a “you problem.” But keep stroking your smooth brain.

Two of my most amazing dogs were herding dogs. Just the best pups. They live long lives if you take care of them - but they need stimulation.

John Roberts struck down the ACA’s Medicaid expansion as a 10A violation because the law was, as he called it, a “gun to the head” of the states who did not want to help their residents. Now Trump’s putting *literal* guns to the heads of Minnesota’s residents to force their gov’t to betray them.

Adam Klasfeld@klasfeldreports.com

Carter turns to the voter roll demand, which they lost in the courts. Per Carter, the government responds: "We don't care. We're going to put violence and chaos in the streets and we're going to force it with illegal conduct." "If THAT doesn't violate the 10th Amendment...."

Obama. Biden. Congress. Senate. Sports stars. Sorry. You all have enjoyed privilege and status. Time to put it all on the line. Show up. Let your voices be heard. This ends when we are loud enough.

Max Berger@maxberger.bsky.social

I wish Democrats would start just speaking the truth: “ICE is killing American citizens in public for exercising their freedom of speech because Donald Trump wants to be a king. This isn’t about immigration—Trump wants to make it illegal to oppose him, and to stay in power until he dies.”

A real irony is that the left & true 1A believers on the right spent centuries defending the rights of dangerous scum to speak freely & now it seems they are the only ones with that right & they are gonna try to destroy everyone who defended their rights. In the future, this has to be examined.

Stop debating where fascism is here or whether elections will happen or won’t. They want us compliant and terrified. We are Americans and for all of our flaws, we aren’t a former Soviet republic or freshly out of a 50 year dictatorship. They can only beat us if we give up. The rest is distraction.

I’ve had the shittiest Americans at about 35-39% for a while. This is HUGE. 28% find Good’s murder was justified. This is a decent sign the rats are rubbing from the nest. Not dispositive. But a decent sign. This feels like Bush 2.0’s support falling.

Matthew Facciani@matthewfacciani.bsky.social

New poll finds that 28% of US adults believe the force used by the ICE agent in Minneapolis was justified.

I will just say, forgetting how awful Bush 2.0 was for America and for the world is a large part of how you end up where we are today.

One of the biggest pieces of racist shit from high school was a raging dipshits who spent his career in the Coast Guard. This tracks.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols. The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

This is defeatist and not true. The root of this is the evil in the GOP. The Dems fumble and screw up all the time and many need to be primaried. But this isn’t a Dem created insurance increase.

The second most annoying thing is how all of the gloating Republican voters are exactly 6 weeks away from freaking out that their health insurance just tripled "because of the Democrats!" They'll be 100% right for once, by the way.

Im curious if anyone has a chart or something that shows how much benefit people will lose based on income and family size. Many of us likely know people about to lose at least a month of SNAP benefits. They are gonna need support.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

1 in 8 Americans rely on SNAP…

“Not to doom but this is suboptimal.” Look I get the insinuation - but this doom with no analysis is playing into the hands of this administration. And when you break it down, this actually doesn’t seem suboptimal. It may actually be fine.

Sky Marchini@sky.skymarchini.net

So dominion voting got sold, look at this fascinating statement from their new owner (not to doom but this is, uh, suboptimal). www.dominionvoting.com

We aren’t Russia. He’s not Orbán and we aren’t Hungry. This shits not popular. They are weak. We just have to show unity and strength.

Joe Walsh@walshfreedom.bsky.social

Donald Trump is trying to create a police state. In this country. In America. Fuck that. Trump is trying to turn America into a police state. Most Americans will not accept that. Most Americans will not live in a police state. No fucking way.

Phil reposted

Some perspective: The ACA part of the shutdown fight is a little less than 0.1% of GDP. Or ~0.5% of the federal budget. It's in same ballpark as cost of Trump's estate tax cut. It's much less than Elon Musk's potential $1 trillion compensation package.

Phil reposted

I don’t know why this isn’t obvious to people. Rage about the harm done, yeah! And weep if you need to weep. But to believe these people will win in the end is just self-harm, AND lazy to boot.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

there’s just zero chance this freak will beat us. never give up hope, because we are up against the biggest fucking losers on earth

Thats the thing. At some point, our energy is better spent planning for how we reverse this.

Sherrilyn Ifill@sifill.bsky.social

I find I can’t muster a proper response to either the Tylenol madness or the U.N. appearance. At some point it is just too ridiculous. It would feel insane to offer sane commentary.

But it’s two points. 1. Fine. Good job following norms. 2. This shit should have been all over the news. He should have been linked to Trump and the admin should have fun with it. Total failure to recognize the risk to our nation. Weak.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

Good point.

This is where I know I lean towards being a moderate. You have to proportionately punish bad behavior and evil doing regardless of who is doing it. Coddling it only allows it to keep wedging its way back in until suddenly the bad over powers the good/neutral.

Raffi Melkonian@rmfifthcircuit.bsky.social

I've a thought I can't quite articulate, but it's something like: how do you rebuild the system when this regime falls- as it will, eventually - when the thing you need to rebuild is adherence to law, the very adherence to which will prevent you from fixing the things these people broke.

I mean, honestly, now we have to actually wonder if those people yelling were right all along…because the regime went ahead and did what you feared they would. They can now take away our rights because they had the cover of law back when the law was a thing.

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

For years people have been yelling at me about how the FCC has to get those crooks at Fox off the air and that there’s no risks of such power being abused or used by people they don‘t like because that’s slippery slope nonsense.

This is where the Never Trumper conservatives always get it wrong. Look - your current viewpoint is great. But just like Tom Nichols does, you miss many of us saw where your party was headed under Bush 2.0. You still act like we were wrong or alarmist. Kilmeade deserves scorn and to be banished

Bill Kristol@billkristolbulwark.bsky.social

Brian Kilmeade deserves praise for his apology.

And I have to say - my son doesn’t tolerate of this crap. He reports people. He calls them out. It’s not all kids this age and it just takes stamina to push it back down.

James Medlock@jdcmedlock.bsky.social

Conversely, I had dinner with a bunch of professors the other day and I don't think the right is prepared for the radicalization of formerly centrist types against them

Elon murdered little kids.

News Eye@newseye.bsky.social

NEW: The death shadow cast by Musk. “When U.S.-supported soup kitchens were forced to close, babies starved quietly, their mothers said, while older siblings died begging for food.” The world’s richest man did this to the world’s poorest children. Don’t ever forget.

It’s really easy to fall down this trap door. I’ve watch my professional colleagues do this on a fairly wide scale where I find myself needing to educate expertise professionals on what used to be basic principles people knew and knew well.

dan sinker@dansinker.com

We're living through the Who Cares Era, where completely disposable things are shoddily produced for people to mostly ignore, while the government stomps its uncaring boot on our necks. But there's an easy way to fight back: Care. I wrote about it: dansinker.com/posts/2025-0...

I’m pretty sure Biden and his team should have gotten out six months to a year before they did. But I’m wondering if Amanda here even knows how often men over 70 are screened for prostate cancer, when was Biden’s last scan, and the science behind his cancer’s progression?

Amanda Marcotte@amandamarcotte.bsky.social

A mere 5 months after he leaves office, where he was supposed to be under close medical watch. This is not going to make the questions about complicity to other Democrats go away. It may make it worse.

We can act all edgy and “out of fucks to give.” But without some of these voters coming over, who knows what happens in 2028. This speaks to his selective hearing, to media framing, and to Dem messaging. His bottom line seemed to be the cost of living - doubt he’s alone.

Your pissed off grandma@anomaly100.bsky.social

It's hard to feel empathy for these fools, but I've run out of fucks to give. We warned them.
