I have realised I like that I can be unfiltered here. I post some serious-face articles on Substack and my professional takes on LinkedIn with all the noise there. Also, I like posting newsletters on Substack, because it's actually a really nice experience. (fieldnotesbyphoebegoh.substack.com)

“Doing what google did for the internet’s data.” The NetApp Data Platform is making data AI ready- without moving or copying data, and while properly governing it. #NetAppINSIGHT

Can someone explain this?!

Things getting chippy! NFL: R.Rehkow kicks onside 26 yards from CIN 20 to CIN 46, fair catch by A.St. Brown. PENALTY on CIN-R.Rehkow, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, 10 yards, enforced at CIN 20. Follow the BigHitBot for all the dirty play action!

My mom and stepdad are from the same diaspora group as Zohran Mamdani’s dad (same like “my stepdad was kicked out of the same town and knows some of his classmates”) and apparently the New York Times doesn’t understand how diaspora works, so I am going to tell you a little about my mom’s people!

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Woah too cool!

The #OpenInfra Foundation has officially joined the @linuxfoundation.org, marking a monumental moment for #opensource. As @jbryce.bsky.social says, the open source standards for OS (Linux), cloud infra (@openstack.org), & containers (@kubernetes.io) are all together openinfra.org/blog/openinf...

THIS is so true. Maintaining culture when your teams are essentially invisible people is really, really difficult. I can only imagine how difficult it is for a startup where culture is so nebulous anyway. (I don’t believe RTO is the answer, btw.)

Charity Majors@charity.wtf

Realization #2: by default, remote-only teams tend to have a weaker...culture, for lack of a better term. There's much less of a shared sense of what it feels like to work at the given company, and it varies massively from team to team.

Me, December 2024: "I'm going to get an expensive MacBook so I can learn AI and be super productive!" Me, January 2025: "I'm emulating Windows 3.11 on my expensive MacBook so I can play nostalgic dos games!" 😐

I’m fascinated by human-centric design atm because so much of AI seems to be going in the total opposite direction. Cynical midweek thoughts 🤔

Guys LLMs are not reliable narrators, they aren’t really narrators at all. If you ask one about the motivations of its creators, unless it was *specifically* tuned to answer that question it is going to generate something that sounds like a good answer to the question

Found out that apple stores do, in fact, have nano screens available in stock and you don't just have to buy them from the apple store app.
