Remember that South Park episode where Randy gives himself testicular cancer? Liberty Biberty looks like the resulting nutsack of a minion giving himself testicular cancer.

liberty mutual was the only advertiser who stuck with tucker carlson after he said mexicans were "filth" so whatever fantasies you have about torturing the mascot are morally correct

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

- I have friends who care about me - I see more people taking climate change seriously - There is vegetarian food at every supermarket now - You can buy LPs anywhere that sells physical music - I've seen artists put more emphasis on traditional methods

But guess what? Farmers could be bringing BACK nature and thriving if paid to rewild Foresters could be producing timber AND natural wildlife habitat Fishermen would benefit HUGELY from no-take MPAs Our NPs could be spectacularly rich, if rangers were properly supported. There are no excuses.

Google illegally cleared an estimated 250,000 trees across 330 hectares of forest in Muhos, northern Finland, to prepare for a new AI data center before completing mandatory environmental impact assessments And another 150,000 trees felled at Otanmäki www.theguardian.com/environment/...

NB. Do NOT take the above 👆 as 'doomism'. Capitulation is not an option. 'Doomism' is defeatism. We have not even begun to fight yet. And I mean fight. If necessary, we must go to war - total war - to save ourselves from those who would destroy our climate and our lives. No room for quitters.

Doomerism is such a plague. Used to do something similar with climate change and eventually realized how wrong-headed it was. With enough of us, we *can* effect change, even if it is just stemming the tide.

We don't have to choose between food security and forest conservation. Agroforestry proves we can have both. Food on the table. Carbon in the ground. Life in the soil. #EnvironmentalSustainability

One reason to conserve nature (among hundreds) is that its genetic resources are valuable - in clearing rainforests, we may be destroying a cure for cancer before it's even discovered But how can biodiversity-rich countries be expected to conserve nature if they don't get a share of the profits?

theguardian.comBig pharma accused of ‘free-riding on nature’ as global fund attracts just $7,000The Cali Fund, set up to raise $1bn a year for biodiversity from drug companies, remains near empty

Felling 250K trees for any reason should be penalized with nothing less than the perpetrators being jailed for the rest of their lives. That includes those who approved the project, that includes the loggers, that includes anyone who supplied the machines to commit the atrocity.

The problem with #climate doomerism isn’t necessarily that the risks are exaggerated, but that it may create a self-fulfilling prophecy – by engendering helplessness, rather than galvanising people. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

…yeah, I think I am gonna split it in two. I'll still upload the entire season 2 video as one video down the line, but I'm splitting its initial uploads into episodes 1-13 and 14-26.

The script for the Season 2 Ranking is Magic video is now complete! ...I underestimated how much I love this season. Fillies, gentlecolts, and all in between... this video is gonna be almost two hours long, and I'm honestly considering splitting it into two parts.

A lot of facts, actually. But one of my favorites is that the pirate in Hook that gets thrown in the Boo Box is Glenn Close in drag. youtu.be/xFEQKk5odIg?...

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

In this case, Scottie, the Scottish Terrier who works as a mechanic. I love her black-and-white aesthetic, and… well, the fact she’s a tomboy at a time in history when women were expected to be feminine. She seems like a fun character. So I drew her, this time going… 🧵

OP-ED: Paris Agreement hasn’t saved world, but it successfully rebranded apocalypse, trading 4C of doom for 2.5C of highly problematic. Renewables are booming, yet politics remain fossilized. It means survival is technically affordable, assuming global leaders stop haggling over the receipt.

I can't put into words how much that "too late for climate change efforts" makes my blood boil. 1) People like Bezos have resources to help make it *not too late*. 2) It's not too late if we, um, try?, 3) Even if warming, Earth's climate is orders of magnitude more habitable than any other planet.

I feel like I need to point out as a professional climate scientist and former professional astrophysicist that it is not "too late" for climate change efforts on earth and any other solar system body would be worse for humanity than the worst-case projections of climate change

the nihilists, the cynics, the apathetic, the doomsayers, they all serve the current system by being useful idiots

The 'boiling frog' thing that comes up in discussions about climate change has been long debunked, BTW. Stop using it unless you're talking about what frogs actually do when the temperature gradually rises (i.e. they try to escape the heat like any other creature).

None. Because there is none. When I think artificial intelligence, I think sentient robots. 'Large language model' is the more accurate term for what we call AI. LLMs aren't capable of a damn fucking thing on their own and the bubble needs to pop yesterday.

there is still plenty we can do to mitigate the worst effects. In retrospect we should have switched to "capitalism is never going to stop we need to focus on workable mitigations outside the international capitalist hegemony" fifteen years ago instead of taking an all or nothing approach to targets

It's way too late to *stop* climate change. It is not too late to mitigate some of the damage. Telling people we can stop this when it already happens makes you look as bad as the outright denialists. Tell people the truth; The situation is very very bad but that doesn'y mean things are over and
